Most fantasy movies center around a group of heroes because the dangers they face are usually enormous. Even then, it’s often not enough. In *The Lord of the Rings*, while the Fellowship does much of the work, the people of Middle-earth need to stand together to defeat Sauron. Aragorn brings together armies from Rohan, Gondor, and even the ghostly Dead Men of Dunharrow, allowing Frodo to journey to Mount Doom and destroy the One Ring.
Epic scope isn’t necessary for a successful fantasy movie. Many great stories succeed by staying small and focused. When adapting stories about fantastic characters who’ve previously been part of a larger group, a more intimate approach would allow them to truly shine.
4) Jack Sparrow

Although Johnny Depp’s Jack Sparrow is the most recognizable part of the *Pirates of the Caribbean* films, the story truly revolves around Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann. To keep the franchise fresh, Disney could explore Jack Sparrow’s past as a pirate. There are many intriguing stories about his early life, and at least one could be developed into a standalone movie based on real events.
3) Gandalf

Prime Video is dedicated to revealing Gandalf’s origins and journey to Middle-earth in *The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power*. But there’s a significant gap between that series and his arrival in the Shire for Bilbo’s birthday. A dedicated movie focusing on Gandalf could explore his everyday experiences and show what life is like for such a powerful character. Given his watchful nature, he’s bound to encounter enemies almost as dangerous as Sauron.
2) Arya Stark

Even though the ending of *Game of Thrones* disappointed many, the franchise remains popular. *House of the Dragon* has brought the Targaryen family back into the spotlight, and *A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms* is also generating excitement. However, one storyline from the original series deserves a bigger look – Arya Stark’s journey west. The finale showed Arya sailing to explore unknown lands, and a movie could reveal what she discovers and if her quest is successful.
1) Inigo Montoya

While Westley is the main hero of *The Princess Bride*, Inigo Montoya is arguably the most memorable character. He successfully gets his revenge on the six-fingered man, but then finds himself without a purpose. Westley solves this by offering Inigo the role of the Dread Pirate Roberts, which he gladly takes. A sequel could follow Inigo’s new life and adventures, perhaps including appearances by characters we already know and love.
