I really enjoy the Superman Family – it’s definitely one of my favorites among superhero groups in comics. I know some people don’t like it when heroes have big teams made up of friends and family, but I find them really appealing. This is especially true for Superman, who naturally feels like a leader and father figure. Overall, I think the dynamic works well, but there are a few things that could be improved to make this superhero family even stronger.
I’m not saying we need to completely overhaul these characters. When I say ‘reboot,’ I just mean a fresh start or a change in focus. While some heroes could use more significant updates, I’m mostly thinking of small adjustments that could help this group of Superman-related characters really shine. I’m a big fan of Superman and everyone in his world, but I have a few ideas to help these four heroes reach their full potential within the team.
4. Beppo the Super-Monkey

It’s tricky to explain Beppo’s backstory, considering the Super-Monkey originally gained his powers as one of Jor-El’s test subjects – the same experiments DC now says Krypto also underwent. Having Superman’s father experiment on multiple animals makes him seem cruel. Perhaps Beppo could simply be an ordinary Earth monkey who unexpectedly developed Kryptonian-level strength? If Krypto and Streaky can exist in the DC Universe, there’s definitely space for Beppo as well!
3. Mon-El

Mon-El has always felt like the odd one out in Superman’s world. Unable to live on Earth, he spent time in the Phantom Zone and eventually joined the Legion of Super-Heroes in the future. I’ve always been fascinated by his close, brotherly relationship with Superman. I’d really enjoy seeing a show where Mon-El gets a chance to spend some significant time in present-day Metropolis, working alongside Superman – even if it’s just for a short period. They both deserve that opportunity.
2. Super-Man

Okay, so I was completely obsessed with the New Super-Man run during the Rebirth era. Seriously, watching Kenan Kong evolve from a tough guy to a genuine hero was just amazing – one of the best character developments I’ve seen in comics, honestly. It bummed me out when his series with the Justice League of China wrapped up, but at least he became an official member of the Superman Family. Still, he feels a little lost now. I really think Super-Man deserves another series, something to bring him back into the spotlight, and it would be incredible if it brought the Justice League of China back into the mix too!
1. Jonathan Kent

It’s a controversial opinion, but many feel that Superman’s son, Jon, hasn’t lived up to his potential since he was aged up. While he admirably took on the role of Earth’s Superman during his father’s absence, that was a long time ago, and he’s been lacking direction ever since. Many fans enjoyed Jon much more when he was younger, and the current version just isn’t as engaging. If a character needed a fresh start, it would be Jon Kent.
