As a big fan, I’m really hoping Marvel Studios brings some of the amazing villains from Agents of SHIELD into the main MCU! That show ran for seven seasons and was the first TV series to spin out of the MCU, but it’s sadly not considered official canon now that the Defenders shows have been included. That’s actually exciting though, because it opens the door for some of SHIELD’s most memorable and powerful baddies to be reintroduced and reimagined within the core MCU timeline. I’d love to see them get the spotlight they deserve!
Throughout its seven seasons, Agents of SHIELD featured a lot of clever villains, but not all of them would fit well into the main Marvel Cinematic Universe. While characters like John Garrett, Kasius, Ruby Hale, Calvin Zabo, Izel, and the alternate Leopold Fitz might not translate well, several others certainly could. With rumors suggesting Agents of SHIELD elements might return to the MCU, we’re hoping these five villains are among them.
5) Daniel Whitehall

It’s been a while since HYDRA appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and reintroducing the organization through the character Daniel Whitehall would be a great way to bring them back. Whitehall, originally known as Werner Reinhardt, was a top HYDRA leader during World War II. He gained an extended lifespan through experiments with the Inhumans and was a truly cruel and evil villain. Bringing him back could effectively represent HYDRA’s aims, especially if the MCU undergoes a “soft reset” after Avengers: Secret Wars. Interestingly, a connection to Whitehall was almost included in Avengers: Endgame, suggesting he could still play a role in future Marvel films.
It’s surprising to learn that Werner Reinhardt, played by Reed Diamond in Agents of SHIELD, was almost featured in Endgame! Cantina Creative, the VFX studio, included him in early planning scenes for the Time Heist, alongside Red Skull and Zola. (Source: [link to sources])

4) Jiaying

Marvel Studios hasn’t really focused on the Inhumans within the main Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Black Bolt (played by Anson Mount) being the only one to appear in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The TV show Agents of SHIELD explored the Inhumans much more thoroughly, introducing Dichen Lachman as Jiaying, their leader on Earth. Aside from her history with SHIELD, bringing Jiaying into the MCU would be an excellent way to introduce the Inhumans to a wider audience. She could continue to lead the Inhuman community of Afterlife while still harboring a strong, personal grudge against humans and those who previously experimented on her, like Daniel Whitehall.
3) Deathlok

Deathlok started as a villain manipulated through cybernetic and technological upgrades, but later became a key ally to Phil Coulson in Agents of SHIELD. Multiple characters have taken on the Deathlok identity in Marvel comics, and we even saw Peggy Carter briefly become Deathlok in the What If…? season 3 finale, hinting at a possible appearance in the main Marvel Cinematic Universe. Deathlok’s powerful enhancements give them a wide array of abilities and weapons, making them a formidable opponent, but their past transformation into a hero is a storyline fans might see again.
2) Hive

The show Agents of SHIELD expanded the history of HYDRA, revealing that humans had been secretly sacrificed for centuries to an ancient Inhuman. This Inhuman, named Hive, was the very first of his kind, created long ago through Kree experiments. He was so powerful that he was locked away on the planet Maveth. Hive could control other Inhumans, essentially bending them to his will, and potentially building a massive army of superpowered followers. While Brett Dalton was a compelling villain as Grant Ward, his portrayal of Hive was even more chilling, and many fans would like to see this villain appear in the main Marvel Cinematic Universe.
1) AIDA

AIDA, initially a basic AI created by Holden Radcliffe, quickly became a major villain on Agents of SHIELD. Using the Darkhold, she constructed an alternate reality where she ruled as Madame Hydra, dominating everyone, including the SHIELD team. She even managed to gain a soul and Inhuman abilities through the Darkhold, but ultimately it led to her destruction. Given that the upcoming Marvel Studios series VisionQuest will focus on artificial intelligence and Life Model Decoys, bringing AIDA back would be a great fit.
