Fans of the Knives Out series can now stream the newest film, Wake Up Dead Man. Written and directed by Rian Johnson, Wake Up Dead Man is the third movie in the series and features Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc solving another intriguing murder mystery. It’s a great choice for anyone who enjoys Benoit Blanc’s investigations.

After Monsignor Wicks (Josh Brolin) is murdered during a Good Friday service, suspicion immediately falls on Father Jud (Josh O’Connor), who has just arrived in town. Detective Blanc and Father Jud then work together to uncover the truth, revealing hidden secrets about the church community and the deceased Monsignor Wicks.

I’m really enjoying Wake Up Dead Man – it’s got that perfect mix of mystery, drama, and humor that the series is known for. Since we don’t know if there will be another Knives Out movie anytime soon, I’m looking for similar shows to watch after I finish this one.

Then, things get really strange when she thinks she sees a murder happen across the street, and suddenly she’s wrapped up in trying to figure out what really happened. It’s a really wild ride!

The Woman In The House playfully spoofs psychological thrillers and crime dramas, but it still delivers a captivating mystery filled with dark humor. The show features a wildly unexpected ending, and while it doesn’t have a detective like Benoit Blanc, it’s a humorous and enjoyable follow-up to Wake Up Dead Man, offering more laughs than Blanc’s most recent investigation.

The Afterparty

I’m completely hooked on The Afterparty! It’s a hilarious murder mystery series on Apple TV+ created by Christopher Miller. What’s so clever is that each season features a brand new mystery, and Tiffany Haddish is fantastic as the detective, Danner, who investigates them all. The first season centers around a murder at a high school reunion afterparty, and the really cool part is each episode tells the story from a different character’s point of view – it’s such a unique way to unravel the clues!

The second season of The Afterparty centers around a murder that happens at a wedding, and Danner is back to investigate. While the show is one of the most inventive and enjoyable mystery series to come out recently, it’s been canceled after two seasons. On the plus side, this means you can now watch the entire series from beginning to end without waiting for new episodes.

Similar to the Knives Out films, The Afterparty is a contemporary mystery that cleverly examines the story from each suspect’s point of view. While it shares some suspense with Wake Up Dead Man, The Afterparty leans more towards comedy, making it a fun and lighthearted watch.

While Big Little Lies deals with more serious themes than Wake Up Dead Man, it’s a compelling next watch. The show is great because of its intricate plot, mysterious elements, and the well-developed characters—especially how their lives are surprisingly connected.

Though it’s grittier and more intense than the Knives Out films, Presumed Innocent still revolves around the same central mystery as Benoit Blanc’s investigations.

I’m really enjoying how both the Knives Out films and Presumed Innocent keep me guessing! The main characters are always suspects in a murder, and honestly, I’m never quite sure if they did it. It’s so fun trying to figure out the mystery alongside the brilliant detective, Blanc, or the investigators in the show – it feels like I’m part of the case!

The Outsider

The Outsider is a miniseries adapted from Stephen King’s 2018 novel. The story centers around the investigation of a young boy’s horrific murder in a small town in Georgia, and focuses on Terry Maitland, a Little League coach (played by Jason Bateman), who quickly becomes the prime suspect.

As a film buff, I was immediately drawn to the character of Detective Ralph Anderson, played by Ben Mendelsohn. He’s a really compelling figure, but clearly dealing with a lot – battling alcoholism and still grieving the loss of his son. Thankfully, he’s paired with Holly Gibney, portrayed by Cynthia Erivo, who’s an absolute standout. She’s a private investigator with this incredible memory and a knack for picking up on details others miss, and she really becomes Anderson’s key to cracking the case.

Stephen King’s The Outsider is a standout TV series from recent years, though it doesn’t always get the recognition it deserves. It’s a grimmer and more intense story than Wake Up Dead Man, but definitely worth watching if you enjoy a captivating and intricate mystery.
