Several strong, cosmic heroes from the Marvel Cinematic Universe haven’t been officially announced for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film. The movie, directed by the Russo brothers as part of Phase 6, will follow Robert Downey Jr. on a large-scale cosmic journey through different realities. He’ll be attempting to prevent the destruction of the multiverse, which is threatened by the actions of some of the MCU’s heroes. Given that the story will likely take place across many alternate universes, fans are hoping to see these popular heroes team up to battle Doom.
Although most Marvel Cinematic Universe stories take place on Earth, space adventures featuring teams like the Guardians of the Galaxy and characters like Captain Marvel have become increasingly popular. While some heroes from these cosmic stories haven’t been confirmed for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film, it would be fantastic to see five of them team up to fight Doctor Doom’s multiversal threat when the movie releases in December 2026.
5) Adam Warlock

Will Poulter debuted as Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, finally bringing this powerful Marvel Comics hero to life on screen. Created by the High Evolutionary to be the strongest of the Sovereign, Adam eventually teams up with the Guardians. His appearance in Avengers: Doomsday could pave the way for other cosmic heroes to join the fight, and because he’s such a major character in the comics, this film could launch many new storylines for him within the MCU.
4) Nebula

Nebula, played by Karen Gillan, has undergone a remarkable journey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Starting as the villainous daughter of Thanos, she evolved into a key member of the Guardians of the Galaxy and ultimately became the leader of a new community on Knowhere. Gillan has hinted at her return in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, and fans are eager to see what happens next. Given her strength and heroism, it would be exciting to see Nebula reunite with her former teammates, particularly if Knowhere is threatened by a villain like Doctor Doom.
3) Peter Quill’s Star-Lord

The ending of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 strongly suggested Chris Pratt will reprise his role as Star-Lord, and Avengers: Doomsday seems like the ideal place to bring him back. Now living on Earth after parting ways with the Guardians, Star-Lord could join Sam Wilson’s (Anthony Mackie) new Avengers team, bringing valuable experience to either the Avengers or the New Avengers. While Pratt’s appearance in Avengers: Doomsday hasn’t been officially announced, fans are eagerly speculating about it, and his return would be exciting.
2) Silver Surfer

The movie The Fantastic Four: First Steps was important for setting up the events of Avengers: Doomsday, especially by introducing Doctor Doom in a post-credits scene. Because Doom comes from an alternate Earth (Earth 828), other characters from that world might also appear in Doomsday. This could include Julia Garner’s version of the Silver Surfer, who originally aided the planet-destroyer Galactus (voiced by Ralph Ineson) but later helped the Fantastic Four. Given that the Silver Surfer is a very powerful addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans are hoping she’ll return in future installments.
1) Carol Danvers’ Captain Marvel

Captain Marvel (played by Brie Larson) is arguably the biggest MCU hero whose return in Avengers: Doomsday hasn’t been officially announced. Despite facing unfair criticism from some fans and the disappointing box office performance of The Marvels, it seems likely she’ll be back. With plans to focus on characters like Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan in Doomsday, including Captain Marvel would make sense. Now that she’s established a home on Earth, she could even step into a leadership role, setting the stage for a compelling story arc that continues through Avengers: Secret Wars and future films.
