You can currently rent or buy movies like Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die, GOAT, Send Help, Cold Storage, Scream 7, and How to Make a Killing, as well as the classic Wuthering Heights on Amazon. However, if you’d prefer to watch something without paying a rental or purchase fee, we’ve put together a list of the best movies available to stream on Prime Video in 2026. These include both films that were originally shown in theaters and Prime Video originals. One movie requires an additional subscription, but you might already have one or be eligible for a free trial.
These five films are all highly recommended. They’re a promising sign that 2026 will be an excellent year for cinema, especially considering we’ve only seen a small portion of the year so far.
5) Primate

Let’s begin with Primate, which you’ll need a Paramount+ subscription to watch. We considered including Mercy starring Chris Pratt and Rebecca Ferguson, but honestly, it doesn’t quite live up to the “Great” in the title of this article – it’s not very impressive.
Released in January, Primate is a creepy horror film reminiscent of classic John Carpenter movies—and it features a terrifying monkey! Despite sounding a bit ridiculous, the film manages to make the concept work, creating a genuinely scary experience.
4) The Wrecking Crew

I have a feeling Prime Video’s new action movie is going to be huge – and honestly, it deserves to launch a whole franchise! Watching Dave Bautista and Jason Momoa together was incredible; they just have amazing chemistry. I really hope they work together again soon, they’re a fantastic duo!
While The Wrecking Crew doesn’t reinvent the buddy cop movie, it’s a solid and enjoyable entry into the genre. It’s a funny and entertaining film, and features some memorable action scenes, like a particularly exciting chase on the highway.
3) The Bluff

The Bluff is a thrilling action movie that blends elements of Die Hard with classic pirate adventures like Treasure Island and Pirates of the Caribbean, and the combination is surprisingly effective. It’s a well-paced film with genuinely tense scenes, and strong performances from Priyanka Chopra and Karl Urban really elevate the experience.
While not the greatest film of its kind, this movie still earns its place among action adventures featuring a hero against overwhelming odds. It delivers beautiful scenery, exciting sword fights, and a solid pairing of hero and villain – though neither character is particularly complex. For a movie released directly to streaming, it offers exactly what you’d hope for in a fun, swashbuckling action film.
2) Pretty Lethal

Recently added to Prime Video, Pretty Lethal is a fast-paced action movie in the style of John Wick. The film features a strong connection between its five leads: Maddie Ziegler, Avantika, Millicent Simmonds, Lana Condor, and Iris Apatow. They play a ballet group whose road trip to a major competition takes a dangerous turn when their bus breaks down, leading them into a criminal hideout. Trapped and facing danger after their instructor is killed by a rival gang member, the dancers must fight for their survival, using whatever means necessary to escape.
While Pretty Lethal features villains who sometimes stand around waiting to be kicked, it’s still a really fun action movie. It even has a fight scene – done in one continuous shot with the camera sweeping around the room – that’s as good as anything in the John Wick films.
1) Crime 101

Hollywood is finally beginning to adapt the work of Don Winslow, with projects based on his books The Border, The Force, and the Danny Ryan series reportedly in development. The recent film Crime 101, adapted from his novella, suggests the industry also understands and can capture the unique style of his writing.
Crime 101 is a classic heist movie with a lot of characters all chasing the same goal: a big payday. Chris Hemsworth plays a complex thief looking for one last, huge score to fund his retirement, and Halle Berry is the woman who brings him into the job. The cast also includes Barry Keoghan as a dangerous young criminal who challenges Hemsworth’s character, and Mark Ruffalo as the cop on their trail who unexpectedly connects with Berry’s character. It’s an enjoyable two-hour and twenty-minute film, even if it doesn’t offer anything particularly new to the heist genre.
