DC Comics boasts a rich history of incredible superhero teams, with the Justice League and Teen Titans being the most famous. Groups like the Justice Society, Doom Patrol, and Legion of Superheroes are also fan favorites. But beyond these well-known alliances, many other deserving teams have been overlooked. These underrated groups, with their unique members, concepts, and stories, fought valiantly to protect the world and deserve more attention.

Many superhero teams have been forgotten over time. But with a fresh start from DC, these groups of crime fighters could easily become popular and well-known.

5) Batman Inc.

Batman is a legendary figure who has motivated countless heroes worldwide to fight crime. Taking this idea to the next level, Batman created Batman Inc., a global team of masked vigilantes. His goal is to train the most skilled individuals to spread his mission of justice across the world. This team includes established members of the Bat-Family like Nightwing and Batgirl, as well as international heroes such as Knight and Squire, Mr. Unknown, and the Batman of China. Working together, these heroes make sure criminals everywhere fear the darkness.

4) Great Ten

Superheroes aren’t just an American phenomenon. China has its own top team, called the Great Ten, who work directly for the Chinese government. What makes them unique is that many members are inspired by Chinese mythology, giving them a wider range of backgrounds and abilities compared to typical Western superheroes. The team includes heroes like August General in Iron, Celestial Archer, and the Shaolin Robot, among others. While they occasionally team up with heroes from other nations, the Great Ten’s main goal is always to defend their homeland with honor.

3) Metal Men

The Metal Men are one of DC Comics’ strangest superhero teams – a group of robots created by the genius Doc Magnus. Each robot is made of a single element and possesses intelligence and the ability to change shape. Despite sharing similar powers, the Metal Men are known for their distinct and quirky personalities: Gold is a confident leader, Platinum is caring, Iron is courageous, Mercury is boastful and rude, Lead is slow to think, and Tin is timid. Together with Doc Magnus, they form an unusual but close-knit family, embarking on wild adventures and battling eccentric villains and monsters.

2) Outsiders

When the Justice League wouldn’t assist Batman in rescuing his friend Lucius Fox, Batman decided to form his own team – the Outsiders – a group more aligned with his methods. Debuting in the 1980s, the Outsiders quickly became popular with fans thanks to their exciting, covert missions and strong team lineup. The original team, led by Batman, included Black Lightning, Katana, Geo-Force, Halo, and Metamorpho. While the Outsiders have seen several different versions over the years, their popularity has unfortunately faded. Given their unique premise of black-ops superheroes, the Outsiders truly deserve a renewed spotlight.

1) Freedom Fighters

The Freedom Fighters are a team of superheroes dedicated to fighting tyranny. Originally appearing in Quality Comics, they primarily operate in an alternate reality (Earth-X) where the Nazis won World War II. This team – including heroes like Uncle Sam, the Ray, and Phantom Lady – represents the last hope for a world under oppressive rule. Though they may appear old-fashioned, the Freedom Fighters embody the core American principles of life, liberty, and justice, and their diverse group of heroes and powerful story possibilities make them deserving of greater recognition as top-tier superheroes.
