5 Hulk Villains Too Extreme For the MCU

The Hulk is a key member of the Avengers and one of the most powerful heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Even though he hasn’t had his own movie since 2008, he remains vital in defending the world from danger. The Hulk has faced many compelling villains, including Abomination, who has appeared in several MCU projects. Recently, the Leader and Red Hulk were featured as the main villains in *Captain America: Brave New World*. However, many other Hulk villains from the current Marvel comics are so frightening and intense – in terms of their looks, personalities, and actions – that they might be too much for the MCU.

Recent Marvel projects like *Werewolf by Night* and the Void in *Thunderbolts* have explored horror elements, but none capture the intense psychological, physical, and cosmic horror embodied by the Hulk’s villains. These villains are so extreme, they’d need major changes to their characters and origins to appeal to a wider audience.

5) Titan

Within the Hulk’s complex mind live many dangerous personalities, and the Titan is considered the most threatening. This persona embodies the Hulk’s intense anger and cleverly manipulated Bruce Banner and the Hulk, turning them against each other to seize control of their body. Once unleashed, the Titan transforms into a terrifying 30-foot-tall monster with rocky, spiked skin. It’s filled with powerful gamma radiation and can unleash devastating heat vision blasts. This sadistic creature brutally injures its victims, draining their gamma energy and leaving them as empty shells. With its gruesome methods and frightening appearance—similar to DC’s Doomsday—it’s unlikely this particularly evil version of the Hulk will appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

4) Xemnu

Xemnu is a powerful alien who repeatedly tries to take over Earth, relying on his incredible intelligence and telepathic abilities. He’s one of Marvel’s most potent telepaths and often uses his powers to manipulate large groups of people against the Hulk. A cruel and calculating villain, Xemnu has developed a disturbing fascination with humans. His most terrifying power involves transforming people into monstrous hybrids of themselves and him. He does this by using tentacle-like appendages to force victims into a mouth-like opening on his back, where they are broken down and reformed with his own DNA, creating horrifying creatures. Because of the extreme psychological and physical horror he inflicts, Xemnu would likely be too disturbing for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

3) One Below All

In the Marvel Universe, the One Below All is the opposite of the all-powerful creator. Where the creator represents good, the One Below All embodies hate and destruction, existing at the very bottom of reality in a place called the Below-Place. It spreads its evil influence through gamma radiation, which is the source of the Hulk’s incredible power. The One Below All wants to destroy everything by taking over and corrupting people who have been exposed to gamma radiation. While a terrifying villain, it’s unlikely the Marvel Cinematic Universe will use the One Below All, as its existence would drastically change the established rules of the universe and introduce much darker, more frightening elements.

2) Wendigo

Inspired by Native American legends, the Wendigo is a terrifying Hulk villain that’s unlikely to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This creature originates from the Canadian wilderness and possesses anyone who turns to cannibalism. It can also spread through bites or scratches. Once infected, a person transforms into a massive, feral beast covered in fur, with incredibly sharp claws and teeth. Driven solely by a hunger for human flesh, the Wendigo is one of the Hulk’s most brutal foes. However, because the Wendigo’s story centers almost entirely around cannibalism, it’s considered too dark and disturbing for the MCU.

1) Brian Banner

Bruce Banner had a deeply traumatic childhood due to his abusive father, Dr. Brian Banner. The abuse escalated to the point where Brian murdered Bruce’s mother, Rebecca, right before his eyes. This horrific experience led to Bruce developing a mental condition that manifested as the Hulk. Bruce eventually killed his father, but Brian’s spirit didn’t die. Instead, it merged with a powerful cosmic entity, turning him into a dangerous ghost who could possess others with gamma-based powers and transform into a terrifying creature. His strength grew based on how fearful people were of him. Given his disturbing history and frightening abilities, it’s highly improbable that Brian Banner will reappear in future Marvel films or television shows.
