Marvel’s recent Ultimate Universe reboot has been a big hit with fans. This new version of reality, known as Earth-6160, was crafted by the Maker – a villainous counterpart to the original universe’s Reed Richards from Earth-1610. To stay in power, the Maker actively prevented many well-known characters from becoming heroes. He went even further, corrupting numerous heroes and turning them into ruthless villains who serve as his loyal enforcers. Instead of protecting this universe, these former heroes now rule it with an iron fist.
Marvel Comics features many villainous counterparts to its most famous heroes. However, the Ultimate Universe takes this concept to the extreme, with a large number of corrupted versions of Marvel’s greatest heroes. These former heroes, now villains, are being fought by a group of rebel heroes called the Ultimates, who are trying to take down the Maker’s rule.
5) Captain Britain

The Maker’s world is split into seven regions, each governed by a member of the Maker’s Council. Captain Britain leads the European Coalition. While in the main Marvel Universe, Captain Britain is Brian Braddock – a hero who uses the magical Sword of Might and Amulet of Right to defend people – the Ultimate Universe has a very different version. This Captain Britain, named Henri Dugarry, is a ruthless and cruel dictator. He leads the Black Crusade, an army of mythical creatures, to control his territory and has caused immense destruction, even nearly defeating Thor and devastating the magical realm of Avalon.
4) Bucky Barnes

Bucky Barnes, Captain America’s longtime friend, has a history of becoming a villain, famously as the brainwashed Winter Soldier. But in an alternate universe, Bucky chooses his own dark path. Feeling powerless as America’s government fell apart and fearing his own death, he desperately sought control. This desperation led him to support a dangerous regime and transform into the Grand Skull, the leader of a violent Neo-Nazi group called the Red Skulls, who target vulnerable communities. It’s deeply upsetting to see Bucky, once a hero, become broken by his circumstances and take on the role of Captain America’s greatest enemy.
3) Colossus and Magik

In Marvel Comics, Colossus and Magik are well-known superhero siblings. However, in the Ultimate Universe, they’ve become incredibly cruel leaders within the Maker’s Council. Working with the villain Omega Red, they control both Eurasia and the dimension of Limbo. The Maker tasked them with eliminating all mutant opposition, and they’ve committed multiple genocides against other mutants. To help achieve this, they brainwashed Wolverine and turned him into a deadly assassin, similar to the Winter Soldier. They are now the primary villains in the Ultimate Wolverine comic series, and are depicted as complete psychopaths who enjoy torturing and killing innocent people.
2) Hulk

Both the original and current versions of the Hulk in the Ultimate Universe are portrayed as powerful and malicious villains. However, they differ significantly in personality. While the first Hulk was a wild, cannibalistic creature, the new Hulk is far more intelligent and controlled. He’s a strategic member of the Maker’s Council, ruling China and leading a group called the Children of Eternal Light. Beyond his immense strength from gamma radiation, this Hulk is also a skilled master of the Iron Fist martial art, a combination that nearly defeated the Ultimates. An evil Hulk with such powerful fighting skills is an incredibly dangerous foe.
1) Maker

The Maker is the mastermind behind the new Ultimate Universe. He’s a twisted version of the original universe’s Mr. Fantastic, driven to madness when he couldn’t save his world. Instead of heroism, he built his own universe where he holds absolute power. Considered one of Marvel’s most dangerous villains, the Maker has committed horrific acts – including killing his own family, wiping out 67 universes, and obliterating an entire century. He even tortured a different version of Reed Richards, turning him into Doctor Doom, and established a worldwide dictatorship, actively preventing the rise of new heroes. While originally from another reality, the new Ultimate Universe wouldn’t exist without his schemes.
