In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Hulk is never one to hold back. When he disagrees with someone, he makes it very clear. In Thor: Ragnarok, the Hulk battles Fenris Wolf on Asgard and wins, but he’s still eager for a fight. He then targets the largest opponent he can find: Surtur. Unaware that Thor is actually using Surtur to destroy Asgard and Hela, the Hulk continues his attack until Thor intervenes and stops him.
Hulk listens to Thor, even though he usually dismisses others, because he realizes fighting him would be a difficult battle. Despite his reputation, Hulk isn’t actually the strongest being in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – several other characters have demonstrated greater power. Here are five MCU characters who are stronger than the Hulk.
5) Thanos

Let’s start with the character who gives even the Hulk nightmares. In the beginning of Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos and his Black Order invade the Asgardian ship, looking for the Space Stone. Instead of surrendering it, Loki unleashes the Hulk on Thanos, hoping to stop him right then and there.
Loki’s scheme backfires spectacularly, and the Hulk ends up seriously injured. It’s a humiliating defeat for the Hulk, so much so that he retreats for the remainder of Infinity War, leading Bruce Banner to take control. While Thanos ultimately loses the war, he clearly wins the initial fight against the Hulk.
4) Sentry

The Avengers are the best heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and everyone worries about who will protect the world after they’re gone. Valentina Allegra de Fontaine tries a unique solution, betting everything on one individual, Bob Reybolds. However, she quickly realizes she’s underestimated the challenge.
The Sentry is incredibly powerful – even a team of super soldiers couldn’t harm him. While the Hulk would likely put up a better fight than characters like Bucky and John Walker, he still wouldn’t be able to defeat the Sentry, especially when considering the Sentry’s darker side, the Void, which could overwhelm the Hulk’s mind.
3) Galactus

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is constantly introducing powerful new characters. But some truly powerful beings have existed for eons. In their first standalone MCU film, the Fantastic Four encounter one of these ancient entities, and he proves to be their greatest threat so far.
Galactus isn’t a skilled fighter like Thanos, nor is he a trickster like Loki. However, he possesses the Power Cosmic, which gives him incredible strength, resilience, and eternal life – as long as he continues to consume planets. When a character is simply removed from the conflict rather than defeated, it means they’re exceptionally powerful.
2) Franklin Richards

It’s surprising to learn that Galactus isn’t the only one with the Power Cosmic. Apparently, he’s looking for someone to take over his role – he’s ready to retire from consuming planets – and he finds a suitable successor in The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
Honestly, I’m so hyped for Franklin Richards! From what we know, he’s basically the most powerful being in the MCU, and even Galactus recognizes his potential. He can literally bring people back to life! Seriously, the Hulk – and anyone else, really – should be careful around him. He’s going to be a game-changer.
1) G’iah

The Marvel Cinematic Universe doesn’t limit its strongest characters to just the movies. Disney+ shows like those featuring Ms. Marvel and Sylvie have introduced several powerful heroes. But the most formidable of them all truly makes an impact in the final episode of Secret Invasion.
Talos’ daughter, G’iah, goes undercover within a rebellious group of Skrulls and significantly enhances her powers using the Harvest – a compilation of DNA gathered from the Battle of Earth. Combining Captain Marvel’s energy abilities with Drax’s immense strength, she easily defeats Gravik, and it’s clear she’d be a match for the Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
