5 Most Expensive Pokemon Games You Can Buy in 2026

Pokémon is a hugely popular collectible, and rare items can be incredibly valuable. While Pokémon cards, like the Pikachu Illustrator, often fetch extremely high prices at auction, they aren’t the only sought-after items. Older Pokémon video games are also becoming quite valuable, even if you just want a copy to revisit classic gameplay.

Okay, so Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen just dropped on the Switch, and it’s got me thinking about revisiting some of the older games. Honestly, I’m hoping this means we’ll see more classic Pokemon titles get updated for modern consoles. If that happens, it could actually lower the price of the original, retro versions – which is kinda cool. But right now, some of those old games are still seriously expensive! I was super curious about which Pokemon games were costing the most in 2026, so I decided to put together a list of the priciest ones.

5) Pokemon SoulSilver (with PokeWalker)

Originally launched for the Nintendo DS in 2009, SoulSilver generally sells for a bit less than HeartGold. These updated versions of the Gold and Silver games included the unique PokeWalker, a pedometer that allowed players to take their Pokémon on virtual walks in the real world. Today, copies of both SoulSilver and HeartGold are more valuable if they still include the PokeWalker accessory.

According to PriceCharting, complete, boxed sets of the Pokewalker bundle have recently sold for around $380, and even loose copies can fetch up to $200. Rare, graded versions have gone for as high as $2,400 in the past year, making it one of the more expensive Pokémon games available today. If Nintendo releases a remake on the Switch, similar to the recent versions of LeafGreen and FireRed, the price could drop. However, because the Pokewalker was a unique accessory, it’s likely this set will remain a valuable item for collectors.

4) Pokemon Colosseum (Pre-Order Bundle)

Although the sequel, Pokémon Gale of Darkness, is now playable on Nintendo Switch Online, Pokémon Colosseum isn’t available yet. The original GameCube game is still quite expensive to buy secondhand, especially the limited Pre-Order version which included a bonus Jirachi disc.

Rare, early copies of the game Pokemon Colosseum can be incredibly valuable. Graded versions have sold for over $12,500 in the past, and even copies that haven’t been professionally graded can sell for up to $2,700. Even a standard, loose copy can fetch around $838. Despite being a popular game when it was released, Pokemon Colosseum remains one of the more expensive Pokemon titles to find on the resale market, especially the limited pre-order version.

3) Pokemon HeartGold (Figure Bundle)

Okay, so as a Pokémon gamer and collector, I’ve noticed something kinda weird. For some reason, HeartGold is way more valuable than SoulSilver when you try to resell it. And the special HeartGold Figure Bundle? That’s seriously one of the most expensive Pokémon games out there! It was a Walmart exclusive that came with the game itself, a Pokewalker, and a cool Ho-Oh figure. Because it was only available at Walmart, it’s super rare now, and collectors are willing to pay a lot for it.

Complete, graded copies of this game have recently sold for up to $15,000 – as of early 2025. Even an ungraded, loose copy can fetch over $1,000. The figure bundle is the most valuable version of HeartGold, but the version that includes the Pokewalker is also expensive, similar to the SoulSilver Pokewalker bundle.

2) Pokemon Emerald

Okay, so Pokemon Emerald is basically the upgraded version of Ruby and Sapphire, which were already super popular. A lot of us fans think the Gen 3 games were a golden age for Pokemon – tons of fun stuff to do outside of just battling. Emerald just takes everything the originals did and makes it even better. Plus, it’s harder to find than Ruby and Sapphire, which means it’s become pretty valuable if you’re trying to resell it these days.

Finding a perfectly graded copy of Pokemon Emerald is uncommon, and when they appear, they can sell for up to $5,000. While a graded HeartGold might sometimes be worth more, that doesn’t tell the whole story. Even without grading, Emerald is a pricey game. Loose cartridges typically sell for over $1,300, and a complete, boxed copy can easily fetch $3,000. Considering it’s not a limited or special edition, Emerald is easily one of the most valuable Pokemon games out there.

1) Pokemon Box: Ruby & Sapphire

Released in 2004, Pokemon Box wasn’t quite a game – it was more of a first version of Pokemon HOME. It allowed players to store Pokemon from Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire on their GameCube. While it had a story and characters, its main purpose was to store, transfer, and trade Pokemon. Because it was only sold at the Pokemon Center in the U.S., it’s now a rare and valuable item for collectors.

Recently, graded copies of Pokemon Box: Ruby & Sapphire have sold for as high as $13,000. Even without the original packaging, this game is expensive – loose copies can cost up to $1,700! It seems strange for such a simple game to be so valuable, but its rarity makes it one of the most expensive Pokemon games being resold in 2026, similar to Emerald.
