5 Most Powerful Order 66 Survivors

Order 66 is a shockingly tragic event in the Star Wars story. Emperor Palpatine gave the order, turning the Jedi’s clone trooper allies against them and leading to the near-total destruction of the Jedi Order. Thousands of Jedi were hunted down and killed in a galaxy-wide attack. This event solidified the Galactic Empire’s control and forced the few Jedi who survived to live in hiding, constantly fearing discovery. The purge completely changed the galaxy, turning the once-respected Jedi into hunted fugitives and wiping away their history and temples.

When Disney bought Lucasfilm, the official history of Star Wars changed dramatically. The many novels, comics, and games that had expanded the Star Wars universe were labeled “Legends,” meaning they were no longer considered part of the main storyline. This meant many previously established stories and characters were removed from official canon, including Jedi who were thought to have survived the infamous Order 66. While this simplified the story, it allowed filmmakers to focus on a smaller, select group of Jedi who did survive Order 66 and whose adventures would be told in new movies, shows, and games. Even within this new, streamlined history, some powerful Jedi managed to avoid the clone troopers’ betrayal and continued to fight against the Empire.

5) Kanan Jarrus

Kanan Jarrus, originally named Caleb Dume, was a Jedi Padawan who survived Order 66, but witnessed the tragic death of his Master, Depa Billaba. This deeply affected him, as shown in the comic Kanan: The Last Padawan, and led him to hide his Force powers and go into hiding. By the time he appears in the Star Wars Rebels animated series, he’s become a hardened smuggler, a long way from his Jedi past. Everything changes when he takes on Ezra Bridger, a young orphan with Force abilities, as his apprentice. Though he never finished his own Jedi training, Kanan became a powerful teacher and fighter, proving himself in many battles against the Empire’s Inquisitors – he even managed to defeat the Grand Inquisitor and hold his own against the formidable Maul.

After losing his sight in a duel with Maul on Malachor, Kanan Jarrus became even more powerful, deepening his connection to the Force. He began to experience the world around him with a heightened awareness that surpassed normal vision. This training reached its peak when, in a remarkable display of power, Kanan shielded his family from a huge Imperial explosion by creating a barrier of pure Force energy. In that moment, the Force briefly restored his sight, offering a final, miraculous gift before his ultimate sacrifice.

4) Cal Kestis

As a huge Star Wars fan, I’ve been really invested in Cal Kestis’ story. He’s the main character in Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor, and his backstory is pretty intense. Basically, he only made it through the Jedi Purge because his Master, Jaro Tapal, gave his life to help Cal escape. After that, Cal spent years hiding out on this junk planet called Bracca, and deliberately blocked himself off from the Force – he was trying to stay under the Empire’s radar. But, of course, the Empire’s Inquisitors eventually found him, and he had no choice but to embrace his Jedi abilities again.

Throughout both games, Cal proves how quickly he can learn and improve. He becomes skilled in many different lightsaber fighting styles and develops the unusual Force ability of psychometry, letting him learn about the past by touching objects and sensing echoes of those who came before. Cal achieves a lot: he defeats multiple Inquisitors, overcomes a powerful, corrupted Jedi from a bygone era, and even lives through a battle with Darth Vader. Though Vader was far stronger, Cal cleverly used his skills and the Force to briefly stop him and escape – a remarkable accomplishment few Jedi could claim.

3) Ahsoka Tano

Ahsoka Tano, first appearing as Anakin Skywalker’s determined apprentice in the animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars movie and series (voiced by Ashley Eckstein), has one of the most compelling storylines in the entire saga. Leaving the Jedi Order after being falsely accused of a crime unexpectedly protected her when Order 66 was issued. The final season of the show vividly depicted her difficult struggle for survival with Captain Rex during the battle for Mandalore.

I first saw Ahsoka again when she showed up in Star Wars Rebels, but this time as ‘Fulcrum,’ a mysterious rebel operative. It was amazing to see how much she’d grown – she was a much more powerful and skilled warrior! She easily took down multiple Inquisitors with her incredible dual-lightsaber skills. But her biggest challenge came when she faced Darth Vader on Malachor – it was a heartbreaking duel where she actually held her own against him, even managing to damage his helmet! Seeing her in The Mandalorian and her own series, Ahsoka, it’s clear her connection to the Force has only gotten stronger. She’s become incredibly wise and serene, and honestly, she’s one of the most powerful figures in the Star Wars universe, in my opinion.

2) Obi-Wan Kenobi

Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor), a highly respected Jedi Master and member of the Jedi High Council, was a key figure in the Star Wars prequel trilogy. He survived the devastating Order 66 in Revenge of the Sith, which led to the painful task of facing his former friend and apprentice, Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen), now Darth Vader. Known for his skillful and defensive lightsaber combat style, Soresu, Obi-Wan was considered one of the greatest fighters in the Jedi Order, having defeated powerful opponents like Darth Maul (Ray Park) and General Grievous (voiced by Matthew Wood). His triumph over Darth Vader on Mustafar demonstrated both his brilliant strategy and his inner strength.

The series Obi-Wan Kenobi showed his difficult life in hiding, where trauma and guilt had weakened his connection to the Force. But when he was tasked with protecting young Leia Organa (Vivien Lyra Blair), he regained his power, eventually leading to another battle with Darth Vader. In this fight, Obi-Wan used the full extent of his abilities, throwing a barrage of large rocks at Vader with the Force, and ultimately won in a deeply emotional showdown. His strong connection to the Force also allowed him to become a Force Ghost, continuing to guide Luke Skywalker even after his death.

1) Yoda

Let me tell you, watching Yoda in action is always a treat, but seeing him face off against Darth Sidious in Revenge of the Sith is something else entirely. For over 800 years, this little Jedi Master was the Force, a walking, talking embodiment of everything the Jedi stood for. Don’t let his size fool you – Yoda’s power is almost unparalleled in the galaxy. The scene on Kashyyyk and then in the Senate chamber… wow. He’s facing the most powerful Sith Lord in a thousand years, and it’s brutal. He’s literally absorbing Force lightning with his bare hands and flinging Senate pods around like toys! It’s a truly cataclysmic duel and a testament to Yoda’s incredible skill and power.

Yoda is famous for his wisdom, but he was also an incredibly talented fighter with a lightsaber. We see this in his duel with Count Dooku in Attack of the Clones, where his fast, acrobatic style easily defeated the powerful Sith apprentice. After going into hiding on Dagobah, he trained Luke Skywalker in The Empire Strikes Back, securing the Jedi Order’s future. Yoda’s power went beyond even death itself. In The Last Jedi, he appeared as a Force Ghost and powerfully demonstrated his continued strength by summoning lightning to destroy a Jedi tree – a clear sign his abilities remained unmatched.
