Anne Rice is a well-known author of Gothic fiction, and she’s probably best remembered for her novel, Interview with the Vampire. Many people know the story through the 1994 film adaptation, and if you haven’t seen it, the impressive cast is likely the first thing you’d notice.

The film Interview with the Vampire boasts a star-studded cast including Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise. It also showcases a breakout performance from a young Kirsten Dunst and a memorable role for Christian Slater, alongside appearances by Antonio Banderas, Thandiwe Newton, and others.

The movie Interview with the Vampire centers on the complex connection between Lestat and Louis, beginning in 1791 when Lestat transforms Louis into a vampire. They later turn a young girl into a vampire as well. The story is told through flashbacks as Louis recounts his experiences in an interview with a reporter in the present day.

When Interview with the Vampire came out, it did very well both financially and with critics, even receiving a couple of Oscar nominations. Corpse Bride shares a similar imaginative style with The Nightmare Before Christmas, but with a spooky rather than festive theme, making it perfect for October. The story takes place in the 1800s and centers on a man preparing to marry when he’s unexpectedly pulled into the land of the dead and betrothed to a deceased bride.

Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride is a visually beautiful stop-motion film that still looks fantastic after twenty years, cementing its status as a classic. The voice acting is excellent, and Danny Elfman delivers another memorable musical score. Plus, the movie was a hit with audiences, earning over $100 million at the box office.

Okay, so I just finished watching Sinners, and it totally reminded me of From Dusk Till Dawn – it starts off feeling like one kind of movie, then BAM, it becomes a vampire horror film! And it’s genuinely scary, which makes it perfect for Halloween. But honestly, it’s way more than just a horror movie. It’s got a great soundtrack, really celebrates Black culture, and dives into some important stuff like racism and family. It’s a really thoughtful and entertaining film.

I’m completely captivated by Sinners – it’s truly something special. Every single element, from the story itself to the acting, the music, and the incredible cast, just works. Jordan is fantastic, and he’s surrounded by amazing talent like Miles Caton, Hailee Steinfeld, Wunmi Mosaku, and Delroy Lindo. With a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s a film I think everyone should experience, any time of year!

Weapons (2025)

Another original film captivating audiences in 2025 is Weapons, a horror movie from director Zach Cregger. Cregger is quickly becoming a prominent name in horror after his successful debut film, Barbarian, which is a must-see for any horror fan.

I recently watched Weapons, and it’s a really unsettling film. It centers around this small town completely thrown into chaos when, one night, all seventeen kids from a single classroom just…leave. They all run off into the darkness, and nobody can figure out where they went or why. The movie follows the reactions of their teacher, parents, and the whole community as they desperately try to understand what happened and, honestly, who’s responsible. It’s a gripping mystery!

The story unfolds through multiple viewpoints, each one unsettling and gradually revealing the reasons behind the strange happenings in town. It builds to a truly shocking and unforgettable climax, solidifying its place as a modern horror masterpiece.
