5 Worst Games Released on GameCube

The GameCube launched in 2001 and, despite not being Nintendo’s most popular console, built up a large collection of games – over 550 titles in North America! It boasted fantastic games like Super Smash Bros. Melee, Metroid Prime, Resident Evil 4, and Animal Crossing. However, with so many games released, some weren’t very good. We’ve picked out five of the worst GameCube games, based on reviews from when they first came out, how difficult they were to play, and how much gamers disliked them.

1) Disney Sports Skateboarding

Skateboarding games were popular in the early 2000s, and the idea of playing as Disney characters doing tricks seemed fun. Konami tried to capitalize on this with Disney Sports Skateboarding, but the game unfortunately didn’t succeed. While the concept was good, the gameplay felt clumsy and the game received negative reviews. It was difficult to control, with a poor framerate and frustrating camera. The graphics looked outdated, reminiscent of early Nintendo 64 games, and the sound effects were more irritating than enjoyable.

2) Charlie’s Angels

In 2003, Ubi Soft released a video game called Charlie’s Angels, based on the 2000 film. This action game puts players in the roles of Natalie, Dylan, and Alex as they investigate the theft of national monuments. However, critics heavily disliked the game, often saying it was even worse than the movie. They found fault with every part of the game, from the gameplay and controls to the sound, graphics, and story – nothing managed to entertain or impress. Review scores were extremely low across the board, with GameRankings giving it a score of just 23.74%.

3) Aquaman: Battle for Atlantis

Released in 2003, Aquaman: Battle for Atlantis follows the story of Aquaman facing off against his enemy, Black Manta, who returns with an army intent on destroying Atlantis. While the plot is simple – Aquaman must save his kingdom – the game itself isn’t very good. The graphics are blurry and the gameplay is dull and doesn’t offer anything new to the action-adventure genre. Even dedicated Aquaman fans weren’t impressed with this title.

4) Batman: Dark Tomorrow

Many games have been made based on the Dark Knight, and while some are great, Batman: Dark Tomorrow isn’t one of them. It’s actually considered one of the worst Batman games ever created. The game started with ambitious plans, but had to be drastically simplified during development. The final product disappointed players and critics alike, with particularly harsh criticism aimed at its gameplay, controls, and nauseating camera. It ranks as the lowest-rated Batman game we’ve reviewed, and many consider it one of the worst games of all time.

5) Nickelodeon Party Blast

Party games seem like a safe bet for developers, especially when they can use well-known characters and franchises. However, even a cast of popular Nickelodeon characters couldn’t save Nickelodeon Party Blast from being a critical failure. Reviews were harsh; IGN called it “poor-looking, poor-sounding, and poor-playing,” and Metacritic gave it a disastrous score of 19 out of 100.
