5 Worst Games Released on PS2

The Sony PlayStation 2 is the most successful game console ever, selling over 160 million units. Beyond its incredible sales numbers, the PS2 had a huge game library with over 4,000 titles. With so many games, it’s inevitable that some weren’t very good. We’ve picked out five of the worst PS2 games, judging them by how critics reviewed them when they first came out, how annoying they were to play, and how much players disliked them. These games aren’t ranked in any specific order.

1) GoDai: Elemental Force

Released for the PlayStation 2 in 2002, GoDai: Elemental Force was a flop with both players and critics. The action game featured a unique idea – a ninja who could glide – but it wasn’t well-executed. While gliding was a core part of the gameplay, the controls were poorly designed, making the game incredibly frustrating. Even basic actions were difficult due to the clunky controls, ultimately leading to a very unenjoyable experience for anyone who tried GoDai: Elemental Force.

2) Mike Tyson Heavyweight Boxing

Released in 2002 for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox, Mike Tyson Heavyweight Boxing was a follow-up to the 2000 game Mike Tyson Boxing. However, unlike the first game, it was a critical failure. Even the original Mike Tyson Boxing wasn’t a major success, making the sequel seem unnecessary, but Codemasters released it anyway. While excellent boxing games like Fight Night demand skillful strategy, Mike Tyson Heavyweight Boxing relies on mindless button-mashing and lacks any real depth. Progressing in the game requires tedious repetition, and ultimately, it’s not worth the effort.

3) Crazy Frog Racer 2

The 2006 follow-up to Crazy Frog Racer was a disaster, effectively killing the series. While it also came out on PC, the PlayStation 2 version earned its place as one of the worst games on the console. IGN’s Sam Bishop perfectly summed it up, saying he wouldn’t even inflict it on his worst enemy, and that playing it suggests a deep self-loathing – even extending to a dislike of freedom and puppies. It’s hard to say anything more – if you ever come across a copy, don’t even use it as a coaster; just destroy it.

4) Gravity Games Bike: Street Vert Dirt

Gravity Games Bike: Street Vert Dirt had the potential to be a fantastic BMX game, especially with a company like Midway Games developing it. However, the released version was notoriously flawed and considered one of the worst games on the PlayStation 2. It was riddled with bugs, glitches, and poor collision detection, making it frequently unplayable. Midway should have fixed these issues before releasing the game, but instead launched a broken product.

5) Little Britain: The Video Game

If you search online for the worst PlayStation 2 games, you’ll almost certainly find Little Britain: The Video Game on the list. It’s a collection of simple games based on the popular British TV show, using the same characters. This game is notorious for being one of the lowest-rated of all time, and critics have used extremely harsh language to describe it. To put it bluntly, it’s a terrible game – poorly made, with bad animation and unpleasant content. It’s bad in every way imaginable.
