Fans of a popular anime series are excited to see it return to Crunchyroll with new episodes, five years after the original show finished. Crunchyroll has had a strong spring season with lots of new anime releases in April, and this continuation of the franchise is a welcome addition to their growing library.
This is particularly true for The Quintessential Quintuplets. The anime series, based on the manga by Negi Haruba, finished airing five years ago, but it’s remained popular with a new movie and several special episodes shown in Japanese theaters recently. Now, for the first time, these new specials (which continue the story after the anime and movie) are available to stream on Crunchyroll for fans in North America and other regions.
The Quintessential Quintuplets Specials Now Streaming With Crunchyroll

The Quintuplets specials consist of four episodes that originally aired on TV and in theaters in Japan, but weren’t available elsewhere. While the 2022 Quintuplets movie concluded the main story, these specials offer additional, previously unseen content from the anime. This new material extends the series, and now fans worldwide can watch it on Crunchyroll. It’s a significant development for international viewers.
The special episodes of The Quintessential Quintuplets originally came out in 2023 and 2024, but now you can watch them all together in one spot. There are four specials, each about the same length as a regular episode of the show. The team behind the original series returned to work on these, including creator Negi Haruba who wrote the stories, and director Masato Jinbo at Bibury Animation Studio. All of the original voice actors also reprised their roles.
What’s Special About The Quintessential Quintuplets?

At first glance, The Quintessential Quintuplets seems like a typical romantic comedy anime, introducing a male lead and several potential love interests. However, the show quickly sets itself apart with a central mystery: Futaro Uesugi must uncover which of the five identical sisters he shared a connection with in the past. While this mystery unfolds, a new romance blossoms in the present day, adding another layer to the story.
This anime is rare because it actually shows a complete ending, which fans really appreciate. Although these extra episodes suggest the story could have continued, it’s satisfying to see a romance fully develop, especially when many similar shows don’t even make it past their first season.
