For the next couple of days, millions of Amazon Prime members can get a Sega game at no extra cost. The deal is available through Prime Gaming, which is included with a Prime subscription. With over 260 million Prime members, most likely aren’t even aware of this gaming perk. But for those who do use Prime Gaming, this is part of what they’re paying for, and for everyone else, it’s a nice freebie – and it’s a genuinely good game!
Amazon Prime members can currently get a free digital copy of Total War: Three Kingdoms for PC. This strategy game, released in 2019, is the latest in the popular and highly-rated Total War series, which began in 2000. It normally costs $60, making this a great deal for Prime subscribers.
One of 2019’s Best Strategy Games
While Total War: Three Kingdoms isn’t considered one of the top Total War titles, nor the most widely played or impactful, it’s still a very good game and one of the best strategy games released in its year. This is supported by its strong scores – 85 on Metacritic and 84% approval on Steam – and sales of over three million copies. It was even nominated for Best Strategy Game at The Game Awards, though it didn’t win, facing strong competition from Fire Emblem: Three Houses, a major contender for Game of the Year.
The game is a turn-based strategy title, similar to others in the series, combining strategic planning with real-time tactical battles. You’ll command a faction and guide it through history, specifically set in ancient China.
As with all Prime Gaming offers, you need an active Amazon Prime membership to get this free game, but you don’t need to stay subscribed to keep it. This means you could sign up for Prime, download this game and any other currently available free games, and then cancel your subscription after a month if you wish.
