2025 saw the breakout success of KPop Demon Hunters, a Netflix animated series that quickly became a cultural phenomenon. The show follows the K-pop girl group Huntr/x, who secretly battle demons while also managing their music careers. Adding to the excitement, their rivals, the Saja Boys, are revealed to be demons themselves! The series was a massive hit, and its popularity continues to grow. A sequel is already planned, and the show recently won two Academy Awards: Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for the track “Golden.”
Although a sequel is planned, it won’t be released until 2029, so fans are searching for similar entertainment to enjoy in the meantime. We’ve already suggested anime and books for those who love KPop Demon Hunters, and now we’re sharing a list of comic books. These seven titles, while not all about demon hunting or girl bands, explore similar ideas and are simply excellent reads.
7) The Fox Maidens

Both KPop Demon Hunters and Robin Ha’s graphic novel The Fox Maidens blend Korean mythology with exciting, genre-bending adventures. The Fox Maidens offers a fresh, feminist take on the classic Korean legend of the fox maiden. It centers on Kai Song, a young woman who longs to be a warrior despite living in a society that doesn’t accept women in combat roles. She’s also plagued by whispers that she’s descended from Gumiho, a powerful nine-tailed fox demon. When long-held family secrets are revealed, Kai’s world is shaken, and she must forge her own path.
Even though this story doesn’t feature pop stars or music, if you connected with Rumi’s experiences in KPop Demon Hunters, you’ll likely feel a strong connection to Kai’s story as well.
6) Blackbird

Written by Sam Humphries and illustrated by Jen Bartel, Blackbird from Image Comics is a must-read for fans of KPop Demon Hunters. The comic centers on Nina Rodriguez, a young woman aware of a secret magical world operating within Los Angeles, controlled by powerful and unforgiving groups. Though others dismiss her as delusional, she’s proven right when a magical creature kidnaps her sister, forcing Nina to confront her own inner struggles and attempt a rescue.
As a huge cinema devotee, I was captivated by Blackbird. It’s more than just a visually stunning piece; it’s brimming with hidden depths, intriguing family secrets, and a really powerful message about self-acceptance – especially when it comes to making the right choices. Honestly, it’s a truly fantastic experience.
5) The Many Deaths of Laila Starr

While quite different from KPop Demon Hunters, Ram V and Filipe Andrade’s The Many Deaths of Laila Starr (published by BOOM! Studios) is another compelling read. Unlike the pop-focused energy of its predecessor, this book draws on mythology to create a grander narrative, skillfully mixing genres and exploring themes of meaning and purpose.
The story centers on Laila Starr, who was once the Avatar of Death but is now forced to live as a human. As humanity nears a breakthrough in achieving immortality, Laila sees this as a chance to prevent it – and save her job. Throughout her journey, she repeatedly dies, and each death offers a new perspective on what it means to live, die, and follow one’s fate.
4) Monstress

Though it’s a bit darker than KPop Demon Hunters, Monstress is a truly exceptional book you won’t want to miss. Set in a world inspired by Asia, the story follows Maika Halfwolf, a young woman connected to a powerful monster. As war rages between humans and magical beings, Maika pursues revenge and uncovers significant secrets.
As a huge fan of beautifully crafted comics, I have to say that Marjorie Liu and Sana Takeda’s Monstress from Image Studios is something special. It’s a really immersive story – a sprawling epic that blends horror, fantasy, and steampunk in a way that feels totally unique. But it’s more than just cool visuals and settings; it really digs into big themes like figuring out who you are and dealing with past trauma, all through the eyes of the main character, Maika. And I have to mention the cat-like creatures – they’re incredibly well-designed and just fascinating!
3) Dazzler (2024)

Dazzler, Marvel’s singing superhero, is heading out on what’s meant to be the biggest tour of her life – a career-defining event similar to Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. But things quickly get difficult. A violent attack, combined with prejudice against mutants, threatens to derail her plans and makes the tour much more challenging than she anticipated.
If you enjoy the blend of pop music, action, and supernatural themes in KPop Demon Hunters, then Dazzler, written by Jason Loo, is a fantastic choice. Each issue even features original song lyrics!
2) KPop Demon Hunters: The Movie In Comics

We couldn’t leave this one out, even though it won’t be available until March 31st. If you’re a fan of KPop Demon Hunters, you’ll definitely want to read the comic book version of the movie. This official adaptation will faithfully recreate the film in comic form, even using lines of dialogue directly from the movie.
This official adaptation of the story, written by Danya Jimenez, Hannah McMechan, Maggie Kang, and Chris Appelhans and inspired by the original film, is expected to please fans.
1) Josie and the Pussycats

Many comics feature the popular band, but fans of KPop and supernatural stories might especially like the 2016 reboot. Written by Marguerite Bennett and Cameron DeOrdio, with art by Audrey Mok, it tells the story of Josie and her bandmates trying to become famous musicians. However, they face a challenge in the form of their demanding manager, Alexandra Cabot.
There aren’t any scary monsters, just a really enjoyable story about a pop band—Josie and the Pussycats is a lot of fun, and we believe fans of Huntr/x will love following the band’s adventures.
