The X-Men are finally joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) before the current storyline concludes, but they’ve already had memorable moments in other films. These iconic Marvel mutants have always been compelling characters in comics, tackling complex issues that reflect real-world problems. Their stories have successfully made the transition to live-action movies, appearing in various adaptations across different timelines. Now, with a few mutants already appearing in MCU films, the full team is set to make its debut.
The X-Men movies had their ups and downs, but they became one of Marvel’s longest-running film series before concluding in 2020. While not every question was answered, the films offered a fun look at the X-Men characters from the comics and included many memorable scenes. Though imperfect, the X-Men movies—separate from the main Marvel Cinematic Universe—gave fans some fantastic Marvel experiences.
7) Magneto Kills Sebastian Shaw – X-Men: First Class (2011)

Many fans believe X-Men: First Class is the strongest film in the X-Men series, and while that’s a matter of opinion, the movie definitely has some memorable scenes. The final fight between Magneto and Sebastian Shaw is particularly satisfying, as Magneto finally gets his revenge on the man who tormented him as a child. Magneto uses his powers to drive a coin through Shaw’s head, killing him – a brutal but fitting end that provides a powerful, emotional release for his complicated character.
6) Nightcrawler Attacks The President – X2 (2003)

I’ll admit, Nightcrawler isn’t usually who people think of when they talk about the X-Men’s strongest fighters. But the way they introduced him in X2 was incredible! That opening scene, with him teleporting into the White House and taking on all those Secret Service agents, was just amazing. It really grabbed your attention and kicked off the whole movie’s story. Honestly, even after all these years, it’s still one of the most visually impressive action sequences in any X-Men film, and definitely a highlight before the franchise joined the MCU.
5) Quicksilver’s “Time In A Bottle” Scene – X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014)

Despite a few confusing parts, X-Men: Days of Future Past remains a standout film in the X-Men series. A highlight was the introduction of Quicksilver, who immediately impressed audiences with his incredible speed. A memorable scene shows him effortlessly disarming an entire room of guards while freeing Magneto, showcasing not only his powers but also his playful personality and potential as a great addition to the franchise.
4) X-Men Fighting Sentinels – X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014)

X-Men: Days of Future Past had many great scenes, but the future sequences were particularly strong. Watching the remaining X-Men fight against the Sentinels was exciting, and it gave heroes like Iceman a chance to really shine on film. Even though these scenes were brief, they showed how fantastic X-Men movies can be when they’re done well.
3) Magneto Confronts Nazis In A Bar – X-Men: First Class (2011)

While the MCU needs to revamp some X-Men villains, Magneto isn’t one of them. His character was well-developed in the Fox films, and a particularly powerful scene in X-Men: First Class showcased his vengeful nature. The scene depicts Magneto meeting two former Nazis at a bar. He initially shares a drink with them before revealing his past and ultimately, brutally killing them as retribution for the atrocities committed against his people.
2) Quicksilver In The X-Mansion – X-Men: Apocalypse (2016)

Quicksilver often doesn’t get the credit he deserves, but he’s actually one of the most powerful mutants in the X-Men films. A perfect example is the memorable scene in X-Men: Apocalypse where he arrives at the X-Mansion just as it’s starting to explode. He quickly springs into action, rushing to evacuate all the mutant students outside in a sequence that’s both visually stunning and funny. It’s a fantastic moment that showcases Quicksilver’s potential in live-action and stands out as one of the best scenes from the X-Men movies outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
1) Wolverine’s Death – Logan (2017)

Many fans consider Logan to be one of the greatest Marvel movies ever made, and its ending is truly unforgettable. The film culminates in a powerful final battle, followed by a touching farewell as Wolverine peacefully accepts his fate and shares meaningful words with his daughter. It’s a beautiful and moving conclusion to his story within the Fox films, and it stands out as the most impactful X-Men scene outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
