The debut of Mark Waid and Dan Mora’s “Justice League Unlimited” has centered the series around the concept of an unrestricted Justice League. Filled with numerous appearances by various characters, showcased beautifully through Mora’s art, there has been no shortage of popular heroes featured. However, some characters seem to be underrepresented, leaving fans eager for more of them, particularly on this dynamic team.
In the initial stages of Justice League Unlimited, thanks to some intricate time travel plots, we get a chance to showcase these heroes even further. Here are seven characters I’d love to see get more attention in Justice League Unlimited.
1) Batman Beyond

Terry McGinnis, a character much-adored by fans, continues to captivate audiences with numerous standalone series that refuse to let him fade away. Witnessing him in Justice League Unlimited has been a delightful experience for many. Although he only appears sporadically at present, we eagerly anticipate more opportunities for him. Given the presence of multiple Batmen, the potential for an exciting plotline is high. Terry, being accustomed to time travel and being stuck in time, could encounter such a situation again. Notably, it would be intriguing if Terry’s circumstances were reversed from his previous time-swap with Tim Drake.
2) Mr. Terrific

Fans are eager for more of Mr. Terrific, who not only played a significant role in “Justice League Unlimited” but also had a solo comic book and an impressive appearance in James Gunn’s “Superman”. Despite his long-standing role as a supporting character for other heroes, Michael has only had a limited number of solo titles. Being the smartest individual in the DC Universe makes him an intriguing character, and it would be exciting to delve deeper into his story.
Beyond his current run, the last time he was at the helm was in “The Terrifics.” Although there’s a small possibility that series might return soon, it demonstrated strong potential for his leadership role. Generally speaking, it’s pleasing to see him featured in any title, but he could truly excel right now in “Justice League Unlimited.
3) The Question

As the Sheriff of the Watchtower, The Question is an obvious choice for a prominent character in the Justice League Unlimited series. Renee, who is already beloved by readers, has received high acclaim following her standalone appearances as the Question. It would be unfortunate not to explore more of her story after this. With her latest rifle capable of transporting you to the Phantom Zone, she becomes even more intriguing and appealing.
As a devoted admirer, I eagerly anticipate the continuation of thrilling escapades alongside her in “Justice League Unlimited.” Perhaps one day, she and Vic will reunite in another tale, given that we’ve learned Vic’s still breathing too.
4) Dr. Occult

Starting as early as issue two, Dr. Occult emerged as a significant hidden gem in our collection so far. This paranormal investigator with an air of mystical charm exudes coolness, and can be seen as a precursor to Constantine. His growing popularity among fans is noteworthy.
New readers might find this character intriguing, since he’s not as widely known. Waid’s revitalization of several classic DC characters could mean that Dr. Occult will see more attention moving forward. We eagerly hope for more appearances of this character in the future.
5) The Challengers of the Unknown

As a seasoned movie critic, I must say that the Challengers of the Unknown, a squad seemingly swallowed by time, have recently resurfaced with a vengeance. Originated as a precursor to Marvel’s Fantastic Four, they’ve been notably absent for quite some time until now. Their central storyline in “The Question” series, as well as their own solo and “Justice League Unlimited,” signifies a comeback that couldn’t be more timely. It’s an opportunity to breathe new life into these classic characters, giving them the spotlight they so richly deserve in “Justice League Unlimited.” Truly, it’s another instance of timeless heroes worthy of a second chance to dazzle us.
6) Air Wave

As a devoted enthusiast, I’ve found myself captivated by none other than Air Wave from the mesmerizing series “Justice League Unlimited”. This golden-age hero, reimagined for modern times, quickly resonated with viewers, serving as our proxy in the early episodes. His unique ability to wield radio waves as his power source adds a delightful twist to his character, even among an impressive roster of distinct personalities within the JLU.
Following Grodd’s plotline for the series and the comic book “World’s Finest,” Air Wave seems to have taken an exit for now. Yet, if there is sufficient enthusiasm among fans, he might reappear in the future. We believe his character still has a lot of untapped potential that we don’t wish to let slip away from the team.
7) Star Sapphire

As a passionate fan, I’ve been thrilled to witness Carol Ferris embodying Star Sapphire for quite some time now. Her captivating performances in shows like “Justice League Unlimited” and “Green Lantern” have truly been the highlight. It’s refreshing to see her character evolve from an occasional antagonist for Green Lantern, to a main character with a compelling backstory.
The addition of different lantern colors at the Watchtower adds a fresh twist that sets this series apart from other “Justice League” books. It’s not just about superheroes saving the day, but about complex characters and their unique struggles, making every episode a thrilling ride.
After this storyline, it’d be intriguing if she becomes the primary character in this series long-term. Don’t get me wrong, Green Lantern is great, but introducing a character from another corps could add an exciting spin to the usual storyline.
