7 DC Characters Who Are Long Overdue For Justice League Membership

As a huge DC fan, I’ve always thought the Justice League is the ultimate team! Getting asked to join felt like reaching the top for any hero. It’s been amazing watching the League evolve over the years. Sometimes it’s the classic seven – Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, and either Martian Manhunter or Cyborg – but other times it feels like *everyone* is a member! Honestly, with the kinds of threats they face – universe-level dangers – they really need all the powerful heroes they can get.

Even if we consider that anyone could potentially be a Justice League member, there are still many deserving heroes who haven’t been part of the team.

It’s time these seven heroes were officially added to the Justice League. They all deserve a spot.

7) Raven

The Teen Titans are known for their incredible members, many of whom have developed and evolved over time. The team was originally envisioned as a training ground for future Justice League heroes, but surprisingly, few Titans actually made the leap. While some former members did join the League, one of the most powerful Titans, Raven, never has.

Raven is a very strong magic user, and despite a difficult family history and occasional struggles with her darker impulses, she’s a valuable asset. Her magical abilities are exactly what the Justice League could benefit from. While she often works with the Titans or trains younger heroes, it’s time she officially joined the Justice League.

6) Cassie Sandsmark

Cassie Sandsmark is the second hero to take on the name Wonder Girl. She initially gained recognition as a key member of Young Justice, a team created as a training ground for future Justice League members, and later became part of a new iteration of the Teen Titans. Despite being one of the most talented heroes of her age, Cassie has consistently remained on teams geared towards younger heroes.

As a huge DC fan, I honestly find it frustrating that Cassie hasn’t been on the Justice League yet. She’s consistently proven herself – she’s a natural leader and someone Wonder Woman clearly relies on. It feels like there’s this pattern of former Wonder Girls getting overlooked when it comes to joining the big team, and it’s really holding Cassie back. She’s always been a strong, capable hero, and frankly, it’s been a long time coming for her to get that Justice League spotlight.

5) Superboy

While several characters have taken on the name Superboy, Conner Kent is widely considered the most popular. Created as a clone of Superman – with a bit of Lex Luthor’s DNA added to ensure his genetic stability – Conner began his heroic career immediately after Superman’s death and has been battling villains ever since.

For years, Superboy was a strong, confident hero, though often impulsive and quick to fight. He’s a founding member of Young Justice and previously fought alongside the Teen Titans, facing many dangers. More recently, he’s been training with Superman and Supergirl, becoming a more skilled and mature hero. While he’s improved significantly, Connor Kent seems to be waiting for his next big opportunity, and joining the Justice League would be a natural progression for him.

4) Tim Drake

The character of Robin is a cornerstone of comic books, initially presenting a teenage hero to readers. Over the decades of DC Comics, there have been five official Robins (or six, if you include Carrie Kelley from *The Dark Knight Returns*). Often, Robins are associated with the Teen Titans, which made sense when they were younger. This leads us to Tim Drake, who currently holds the mantle of Robin, but he’s evolved beyond the typical teen sidekick role. Having led teams like Young Justice and the Teen Titans, Tim Drake is now a highly skilled adult hero, arguably one of the best vigilantes around. The only thing preventing him from joining the Justice League seems to be his continued identity as Robin.

As a huge fan, I truly believe Tim Drake deserves a spot on the Justice League. Honestly, it feels like a no-brainer! If people are hung up on him being ‘just’ a Robin, he could easily go back to being Red Robin – that shouldn’t be a barrier. We really need heroes like Tim on that team, and I’m hoping to see it happen soon. He brings a unique skillset and perspective the League would seriously benefit from.

3) Donna Troy

Donna Troy is a highly respected hero. After Wonder Woman rescued her from a fire as a child, she was trained by the Amazons and given some of Wonder Woman’s power to fight evil alongside her. Donna is one of the original members of the Teen Titans and has also served as their leader.

Donna Troy was briefly a member of the Justice League before the *Flashpoint* event, when Dick Grayson was Batman and leading the team. Since then, her history with the League has been complicated by retcons – changes to established storylines – and is often overlooked by fans. Despite being a unique and capable hero, Donna has often been considered a secondary character. The best way to elevate her status is to prominently feature her in the Justice League and make it a significant event.

2) Miss Martian

Martian Manhunter is a key and incredibly strong member of the Justice League, and has even served as its leader. The team would be even more effective with another powerful Martian hero on board: Miss Martian.

Miss Martian has been part of teams like the Teen Titans and the Titans, but she hasn’t often been given the opportunity to shine as a major hero. With powers equal to Martian Manhunter, and a unique White Martian background allowing for transformations he can’t achieve, she has the potential to become a leading DC character. A great way to elevate her would be to include her on the Justice League roster.

1) Nightwing

Nightwing is a hugely significant hero in DC Comics history. He broke ground as the very first superhero sidekick, helped establish both the Teen Titans and the Titans teams, and was the first sidekick to become a hero in his own right. He’s even stepped in for Batman on two occasions, demonstrating his exceptional abilities and solidifying his place among the greatest heroes.

Dick Grayson, formerly Batman and a frequent Justice League ally, hasn’t officially joined the team as Nightwing – until now. He’s become a vital hero in the world of metahumans, and it’s about time he became a full-time member. Considering his importance – second only to the core ‘Trinity’ of heroes – he deserves a permanent spot on the Justice League.
