Ever since his debut, Spider-Man has been a fan favorite among Marvel’s superheroes, making appearances in various places. The popularity of Spidey often leads to increased sales, resulting in collaborations with almost every Marvel hero imaginable and some that even the most ardent Spider-Man fans might have forgotten. Known for his quick wit and humor, Spider-Man is highly respected within the superhero community. Although he can be a bit of a jokester during battles, it’s well known that he’s as formidable as he is amusing. Many heroes have directly encountered this firsthand. Spider-Man has squared off against numerous heroes throughout his career, and thanks to his powers and intellect, he’s managed to come out victorious in many of these encounters.
Marvel and DC Comics are teaming up once more after many years, and it’s expected that soon, Marvel’s most iconic hero, Spider-Man, will also join in with a crossover comic of his own. When heroes collide, there’s often initial conflict as they initially perceive each other as adversaries. While Spider-Man might be able to triumph over several DC characters, there are also many he would struggle against. Here are seven DC heroes who could easily best Spider-Man due to their superior strength and abilities.
7) Big Barda

In an extraordinary turn of events, Big Barda endured hardships that would break most people. Born in the grueling orphanage of Granny Goodness, she faced torment and cruelty beyond anything known on Earth. Remarkably, she not only survived but prospered, leading to her becoming one of Darkseid’s feared Female Furies. However, Barda forsook her powerful position for the love of Scott Free, also known as Mister Miracle. Together, they fled Apokolips and built a life on New Genesis and Earth.
Barda possesses immense strength, comparable to Wonder Woman, making her significantly stronger than Spider-Man. She is virtually invulnerable against common threats, having withstood blows that would fell weaker heroes. Moreover, Barda is a superior fighter compared to Spider-Man. While Spider-Man’s spider-sense and speed offer advantages, they are not invincible. A single shot from Barda could disorient him, giving her the edge in combat. One punch will escalate into two, then four, and eventually ten, with Barda ultimately standing victorious.
6) Alan Scott

Alan Scott, initially known as the Green Lantern, acquired his enchanted lantern and ring during a train journey. The artifact saved his life during the train crash and granted him the title of the first Green Lantern, enabling him to confront some of the most formidable antagonists from the Golden Age. Scott is an original member of the Justice Society of America, having been in action for more than eight decades.
Scott’s ring offers him the ability to materialize objects he can imagine, posing a significant challenge for Spider-Man. Despite not possessing Spider-Man’s physical prowess, Scott can generate forcefields that offer near-invulnerability to harm. Although these shields may be breachable, Spider-Man lacks the necessary power to do so.
Scott has an advantage in reach; while Spider-Man may be stronger than Alan, he won’t have the opportunity to inflict damage due to Scott’s ability to use his ring to capture and immobilize Spider-Man. Spider-Man’s spider-sense will play a role in the battle, but Scott is likely to recognize its significance and employ his ring to seize Spider-Man, rendering him motionless. With no capacity to move or act, Scott would easily triumph over Spider-Man. Although Spider-Man is admirable, Scott outclasses him significantly, leveraging his greater power and experience to effortlessly defeat Spider-Man.
5) The Flash

The Flash is renowned as the quickest human in existence, a title he has held for many years with various individuals donning the lightning emblem. The original Flash was Jay Garrick during the Golden Age, followed by a succession of remarkable heroes. Barry Allen revitalized the character, leveraging his scientific acumen to discover innovative applications of speed. Upon accepting young Wally West as his sidekick, Allen eventually passed on the mantle of the Flash after his demise, with Wally West ultimately becoming the most adept in harnessing the Speed Force, a mysterious energy source that powers the Flashes. Some argue that the Flash is Earth’s mightiest hero, capable of performing feats that outmatch even Superman and Martian Manhunter in terms of speed. Spider-Man may boast greater strength, but the Flash’s unparalleled speed gives him a significant edge in any confrontation.
Although Spider-Man could initially use his webbing to gain an advantage over the Flash, this lead wouldn’t last long due to the Flash’s overwhelming speed. The spider-sense might provide temporary resistance, but it would ultimately prove ineffective against the Flash’s velocity. The Flash possesses the power to end the fight at will. Despite the potential clash, there’s a sense that Peter and Wally share a camaraderie, making it likely that Wally would invite Spider-Man for dinner with his family after the altercation.
4) Martian Manhunter

Martian Manhunter, originally from Mars and serving as their version of a police officer, is often overlooked as an exceptional superhero. After the destruction of his home planet by a firestorm triggered by his brother, he was taken to Earth for an experiment and has remained here. He works both as a detective and policeman before transitioning into a superhero. Known as the ‘jack-of-all-trades’ in the superhero community, Martian Manhunter boasts abilities such as super strength, speed, enhanced senses, invulnerability, shapeshifting, Martian vision (a cold-ray equivalent of heat vision), telepathy, invisibility, and intangibility. Essentially, he’s a telepathic Superman who can phase through objects while being invisible if desired. However, his weakness to fire is something Spider-Man may never discover.
In a hypothetical fight between the two, Martian Manhunter would have a significant advantage. His superior strength and speed, coupled with his telepathy that could counteract Spider-Man’s spider-sense, make it highly unlikely for Spider-Man to secure a victory in this matchup.
3) Batman

In a seemingly unfavorable matchup, one might think Spider-Man would outmatch Batman due to his agility and speed. However, underestimating Batman’s capabilities has often led to a rude awakening for villains. Batman’s physical and mental prowess have been honed to near superhuman levels, making him an unparalleled fighter, versed in numerous martial arts. His utility belt serves as a formidable arsenal against even the most menacing adversaries.
On the surface, Spider-Man appears to hold all the advantages, save one-Batman’s intelligence, particularly his combat strategy, surpasses that of Spider-Man. Batman is adept at predicting his opponents’ moves, and in this matchup, he will swiftly deduce Spider-Man’s ability to anticipate attacks. For Spider-Man, the spider-sense becomes a puzzle to solve, one Batman excels at unraveling during combat.
This battle will push Batman to his limits but ultimately lead to victory through strategic application of his extensive arsenal and tactical acumen. It promises an exhilarating spectacle; yet, as history has shown, Batman consistently emerges victorious. That’s just the way it is for this crime-fighting powerhouse.
2) Wonder Woman

Among Earth’s mightiest heroes, none rival the formidable prowess of Wonder Woman, who was bred to be the greatest Amazon. Possessing immense strength and resilience, she is nearly invincible to humans, as demonstrated by her ability to lift structures like the Washington Monument effortlessly. Her combat skills are unparalleled, honed over millennia by a race that battles gods and monsters relentlessly.
She possesses the ability to fly at remarkable speeds, wields an indestructible lasso that forces truth, and boasts exceptional defensive capabilities. When faced with adversaries stronger than herself, Wonder Woman skillfully evades or deflects most attacks, exploiting any weaknesses she discovers.
Spider-Man matches her in agility but is no match for her endurance or brute strength. Though both share comparable speed, the advantage lies with Wonder Woman due to her superior fighting skills and unending stamina. As Spider-Man fatigues, their battle becomes all but decided – leaving only the final punches to be thrown.
1) Superman

In comic books, Superman stands as the greatest superhero, period. He’s single-handedly saved the universe multiple times and has been instrumental in winning every fight he’s been involved in. Over time, Superman’s powers have evolved significantly; while he’s weaker than his pre-Crisis self, he’s stronger than during the Golden Age or at present. Spider-Man lacks the strength and speed of Superman, and can’t withstand nearly as much damage. This disparity could pose a significant challenge for Spider-Man. In a physical confrontation, it seems unlikely that Spider-Man would emerge victorious. Superman’s speed surpasses Spider-Man’s so drastically that the latter’s defensive abilities won’t matter. Steel beams would likely be enough to subdue Spider-Man, without the need for a punch. If it came down to a fight, it seems there’s little hope for Spider-Man. Superman is simply too swift for Spidey, making his defensive skills irrelevant. The strength of Spider-Man’s webbing isn’t enough to restrain Superman, so his usual tricks won’t work. In the end, Superman would likely defeat Spider-Man, but they might become close friends following their encounter.
