He’s played a crucial role in battling numerous dangerous threats during significant events across the universe. In essence, Spider-Man is more than capable and extremely formidable.

Marvel and DC Comics are once again merging universes, which means we might soon witness collaborations between Spider-Man and the heroes from the DC Multiverse. This crossover will broaden the pool of antagonists for Spider-Man, opening up new challenges. While Spider-Man can certainly handle some DC villains with ease, there are several others that would pose a significant threat. In fact, these seven DC villains could defeat Spider-Man – an accomplishment few antagonists have managed before.

Mongul possesses strength equivalent to Superman, making him a significant challenge for Spider-Man. Modern Superman no longer possesses the ability to hurl planets like beachballs, but his strength remains staggering. Given that Mongul can hold his own against Superman, also known as Big Blue, Spider-Man has minimal chances against him. In truth, Mongul is unlikely to even register Spider-Man’s attacks.

Spider-Man’s speed would help him keep a safe distance from Mongul, but eventually, he might tire or make a mistake, and that could be the end of it. Mongul has the potential to kill Spider-Man with a single powerful punch. To succeed against Mongul, Spider-Man must maintain perfection throughout the entire fight; Mongul only needs a lucky break once.

6) General Zod

Among the few genuine adversaries Superman faces, General Zod stands out as one who can catch him off guard. Known for being Krypton’s foremost tactician, Zod even shares friendly ties with Jor-El in certain narratives. However, their stories always conclude with them attempting to seize control of the Kryptonian Science Council and failing, leading to their imprisonment in the Phantom Zone. As a fellow Kryptonian, Zod possesses extraordinary power under a yellow sun, further bolstered by extensive combat training. In comparison, he far surpasses Spider-Man’s strength and speed.

Spider-Man typically prevails against stronger foes due to his agility and spider-sense, enabling him to dodge attacks. Against Zod, this would be ineffective as even with the spider-sense, Spider-Man wouldn’t be able to evade Zod’s assaults. In this matchup, General Zod holds all the upper hands, and it seems highly improbable that Spider-Man could emerge victorious unless he manages to acquire Kryptonite or develop a red sun gun.

5) Doomsday

Doomsday is a formidable villain in DC’s multiverse, primarily known for his fatal encounter with Superman. Over time, Doomsday has evolved and is now referred to as the Time Trapper, a powerful being trying to provoke Superman into killing him to achieve godhood. Killing Doomsday twice is impossible due to his unique regenerative abilities, making him virtually immortal. Compared to the Hulk, some speculate that Doomsday might be even stronger, posing a significant threat to heroes like Spider-Man.

While Spider-Man could easily dodge Doomsday’s attacks, he wouldn’t have many options beyond that. Web attacks would be futile as Doomsday is too strong to be held by them for long periods. Traditional tactics against stronger opponents, such as those employed by Spider-Man, would also fail in this case. The fight against Mongul serves as a good comparison; Spider-Man would need to evade every blow to have any chance of survival, but Doomsday only needs one successful strike.

4) Gorilla Grodd

Gorilla Grodd, hailing from Gorilla City, is an extraordinarily menacing adversary, often compared to the Green Goblin in many aspects. He’s a genius with intellect twisted by anger and greed, possessing immense physical power but his greatest weapon is his Mind Force, a telepathic ability that lets him manipulate and attack minds. In terms of raw strength, Grodd and Spider-Man may be evenly matched, but Spider-Man’s speed outpaces Grodd. Granted, there may be a slight chance that Reverse Flash slips up, allowing Spider-Man to land a blow or two, or perhaps a webbing trick could work; yet, it is unlikely to be sufficient for victory. In the end, the Reverse Flash has the power to conclude this battle whenever he chooses.

2) Lex Luthor

In simpler terms, Lex Luthor stands as Superman’s main adversary, as their personalities and characteristics contrast dramatically. While Superman possesses immense physical strength and selflessness, Lex Luthor is marked by his intelligence and selfishness. Known for being one of Earth’s smartest villains (if not the smartest), Lex has consistently held his own against powerful heroes and villains.

An intriguing dynamic unfolds when Lex Luthor faces Spider-Man, as Spider-Man is physically stronger but Luthor is intellectually superior. This disparity will have significant consequences, as instead of rushing into a physical confrontation, Lex will analyze Spider-Man first to discover his spider-sense and find ways to exploit it. Once he has a strategy in place, he’ll focus on taking down Spider-Man, which will pose a considerable challenge for the web-slinger.

Notably, Lex Luthor only engages Spider-Man when armed with his armor, as this protective gear is stronger than any suit Spider-Man has previously encountered. With the armor’s enhanced strength, Lex could potentially overpower Spider-Man, ultimately defeating him if not for some unforeseen intervention.

1) Darkseid

In essence, Darkseid is comparable to Thanos in the DC Multiverse, a formidable adversary even for Spider-Man who wouldn’t stand a chance against him. Known as the embodiment of evil and ruler of Apokolips, Darkseid overthrew his father, Yuga Khan, to claim the throne. He has fought not only the New Gods of New Genesis but also some of the most powerful heroes across the multiverse. Darkseid surpasses Superman in strength and has demonstrated the ability to confront entire teams of heroes alone. His body is almost indestructible, and his Omega Effect eye beams can kill with a single shot and track its target wherever they go. Therefore, while Spider-Man may have the advantage in speed and endurance, taking more damage, it’s the Omega Effect that poses the real threat. It can follow Spider-Man anywhere, and eventually, it will catch up to him. Given Darkseid’s overwhelming power, Spider-Man has little chance of victory.
