7 Dead Warner Bros Franchises Paramount Could Finally Revive

The potential merger of Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount could significantly change the future of film and television. Paramount has agreed to buy Warner Bros. Discovery, a deal that would combine a huge range of popular movies and TV shows under one company. If completed, this merger would give Paramount control of some incredibly valuable and well-known franchises, potentially making it a very profitable venture.

As a huge movie fan, I’m really excited about the Paramount and Warner Bros. merger! It feels like a chance to bring back some franchises Warner Bros. seemed to have given up on. While a few things like the universe surrounding The Batman Part II and Constantine II are still moving forward, there are definitely some properties that were left to die. I’m hoping Paramount will step in and give these forgotten series a fresh start – a real chance to thrive again. It’s a bit like rescuing them, honestly, and I can’t wait to see what they do!

7) The DCAU

The DC Animated Universe (DCAU) used to feature fantastic animated shows, but it’s been neglected for a while now under Warner Bros. Paramount now has a chance to revitalize this popular franchise by creating new, family-friendly animated series based on DC characters. Bringing back some of the fan-favorite shows from the original DCAU would be an excellent way for Paramount to begin this new chapter.

6) Mad Max

Even though a new Mad Max film came out as recently as 2024, it looks like the franchise has stalled again. While Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga was released to positive reception, plans for another sequel haven’t moved forward, despite interest from star Tom Hardy and creator George Miller. Now, Paramount has the chance to revive the series with a new installment, which would likely please many fans.

5) Police Academy

Following the positive reception to the 2025 Naked Gun reboot, it seems like viewers are ready for more lighthearted and funny takes on police stories. This timing makes the recent merger between Paramount and Warner Bros. ideal for reviving the Police Academy franchise, which hasn’t had a movie release since 1994. A reboot has been in the works for over twenty years, and now, with Paramount’s support, the series has a good chance of returning to its former comedic success.

4) Dirty Harry

The Dirty Harry films are a well-known part of pop culture, largely thanks to their many memorable lines. Now owned by Paramount, the franchise has potential for a reboot that could appeal to today’s viewers. Given the popularity of gritty action thrillers, and the fact that Clint Eastwood’s son, Scott, is now the right age to step into his father’s famous role, Paramount might be considering bringing Harry Callahan back for a new generation.

3) Tarzan

The merger between Paramount and Warner Bros. also brings the Tarzan franchise under Paramount’s ownership. While Tarzan hasn’t been featured in many recent movies – with only one release, the enjoyable but overlooked The Legend of Tarzan in 2016 – there’s a lot of potential for new, exciting Tarzan films. The character has remained largely unused for too long, and hopefully Paramount will revive the franchise and bring Tarzan back to the big screen soon.

2) Magic Mike

It’s easy to see the Magic Mike movies as just eye candy, but the three films actually offer a surprisingly thoughtful story. Beyond the exciting performances, it’s a really well-done comedy-drama that Paramount should consider continuing. Now that Warner Bros. doesn’t seem interested in making another film after 2023’s Magic Mike’s Last Dance, Paramount has a chance to revive the series and please its fans.

1) The LEGO Movie

When The LEGO Movie came out, it was a surprisingly big hit. It launched a series of films, including a sequel and spin-offs, but the last LEGO movie was released in 2017. With so much potential, especially now that Paramount owns the franchise alongside other popular titles, it seems like bringing LEGO movies back would be a smart move. Hopefully, Paramount will recognize how successful this franchise could be and decide to make more fantastic animated LEGO films.
