7 Major Anime Series Ending in 2026, Ranked By How Long It’s Been

As a huge anime fan, I’m already looking ahead to the rest of 2026, and it’s going to be a big year! We’ve got tons of new shows coming out, which is always exciting, but it also feels like we’re saying goodbye to some really important series. A lot of the biggest anime we’ve all been loving are wrapping up their stories, and honestly, it feels like the end of an era. When you look at which shows are finishing up, it really hits home – it’s going to be a bittersweet time!

In 2026, several long-running anime series will conclude. Some of these shows have been airing for many years, and this year will mark the end of reboots, final seasons, and storylines fans have followed for decades. Here’s a list of seven major anime series finishing up in 2026, ordered from the oldest to the newest.

7). Trigun Stargaze (2023-2026)

New episodes of Trigun Stargaze are currently being released as part of the Winter 2026 anime season. This marks the final part of the official computer-generated reboot, which began with Trigun Stampede. This reimagining of Yasuhiro Nightow’s beloved action series has presented a fresh take on Vash the Stampede, and Trigun Stargaze seems to be moving towards a version of the story more recognizable to longtime fans. However, given the many surprises already revealed, Trigun Stargaze will likely continue to keep viewers guessing.

6). Fire Force (2019-2026)

The anime Fire Force returns this winter with the final part of its third season, completing the adaptation of Atsushi Okubo’s manga. The story has already kicked off a dramatic finale with the beginning of the Great Cataclysm. The last few episodes will cover a lot of material from the manga, raising concerns about whether everything will be clearly explained for anime viewers. However, early episodes suggest the series is heading towards a satisfying conclusion.

5). Beastars (2019-2026)

The second part of Beastars‘ third and final season is coming soon, and it’s a series many have been eagerly following. The first season was a huge hit, significantly boosting the popularity of Paru Itagaki’s original manga, and now viewers are especially keen to see how the story concludes. Beastars was groundbreaking when it debuted, introducing many to CG animation, and each season has delved deeper into the complex and often intense lives of its animal characters.

As the story comes to a close, we’ll finally discover what the future holds for Legoshi and the other young characters involved.

4). Dr. Stone (2019-2026)

The third and final season of Dr. Stone has been released in three parts over the past couple of years, and now we’re finally seeing how the story concludes. Unlike many other action shows from Shonen Jump, Dr. Stone centers on Senku’s efforts to revive those turned to stone and rebuild civilization with the technology they once knew.

Having overcome numerous strong and clever enemies throughout the series, Senku is now focused on a final objective: solving the original mystery of how the world was turned to stone. He’s determined to find out who was responsible for this event from the very beginning.

3). Golden Kamuy (2018-2026)

The anime series based on Satoru Noda’s Golden Kamuy has been a surprisingly popular success story from the late 2010s. While the first season had a shaky start due to its computer-generated bear, it quickly became consistently excellent. The series has grown into a large franchise, adding new characters with each season as they all pursue the hidden gold, and even included a movie to set up the final season.

After many live-action adaptations and other projects, the anime is also reaching its end. The final season promises a thrilling conclusion to this long-running story, and fans won’t want to miss seeing how the treasure hunt finally wraps up.

2). My Hero Academia (2016-2016)

Even though the anime finished its last season last year, it wasn’t the true ending. My Hero Academia will return this spring with a special episode that shows what happens with Izuku Midoriya after he graduates from U.A. Academy.

I saw that Kohei Horikoshi, the creator of the series, released an extra story a few months after the last chapter finished. It felt like a real ending, offering fans the closure many of us were hoping for. Considering the anime is about to reach its ten-year anniversary, 2026 is shaping up to be a massive year for My Hero Academia.

1). Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War (2004-2026)

Anime fans have been waiting for this moment for over 20 years. After first appearing in 2004, the popular series Bleach is finally concluding with the last episodes of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War. Many thought the final story arc from Tite Kubo’s manga would never be animated, making this conclusion feel especially significant.

Fans are incredibly excited for the final season of this beloved series, especially after waiting decades to see Ichigo Kurosaki’s story come to an end. The creator, Kubo, has hinted at surprising new content for the anime, even for longtime viewers. With so much anticipation, it’s time to prepare for a spectacular conclusion!
