With the upcoming movie Avengers: Doomsday, many fans are wondering which characters might not survive. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has introduced a lot of new heroes and villains, both from the main timeline and alternate realities. As the story builds towards its big finale, it’s likely that Avengers: Doomsday will feature some character deaths to increase the tension and make the stakes feel higher. It seems almost certain that at least one major character will be killed off in a surprising twist.
Past Marvel Cinematic Universe films suggest the Multiverse Saga will end with a huge, thrilling climax. The previous major storyline, the Infinity Saga, concluded with the unforgettable and devastating events of Avengers: Infinity War, where many heroes perished. While Avengers: Doomsday probably won’t have quite as many deaths, it seems likely someone important will die as this final saga begins, and several characters are already considered to be at risk.
7) Bucky Barnes

Bucky Barnes debuted way back in the first phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and has had several memorable moments. His journey from villain to redeemed hero is considered one of the MCU’s strongest character arcs, but it looks like his time as a hero might be ending soon. Considering how long he’s been a part of the MCU and his ties to many other characters, his death in a future Avengers film would be a deeply impactful moment for both the story and the audience.
6) Hulk

Okay, so everyone’s wondering about Hulk in the new Avengers: Doomsday movie, and honestly, I am too. He’s a core Avenger, been in pretty much everything Marvel’s done, and while he’s not currently listed in the cast, rumors are swirling he might still show up. Now, killing off Hulk would be a huge deal, a real shocker, and I think it would be a smart way to raise the stakes and get our heroes truly motivated heading into the big Multiverse Saga finale. It would definitely get people talking, that’s for sure.
5) Loki

Given Loki’s history of faking his death in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it might seem surprising to consider killing him off in Avengers: Doomsday. However, Loki season 2 transformed him into the God of Stories, tasked with safeguarding the Multiverse’s timelines. His death could be a fitting catalyst for the widespread chaos expected in both Doomsday and Secret Wars, making it a real possibility.
4) War Machine

War Machine isn’t a central figure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which makes him a believable candidate to die in Avengers: Doomsday. He’s been a supporting hero since near the beginning of the MCU, and killing him off would be emotionally impactful without eliminating a core character. This makes War Machine a likely casualty in Doomsday.
3) Thor

Thor has consistently demonstrated incredible strength throughout his appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, establishing him as one of the most powerful Avengers. With four solo films and four team-up movies under his belt, his story arc is already quite extensive. While his death would be a major surprise, eliminating such a powerful and original Avenger feels like a possibility for a large-scale event like Avengers: Doomsday.
2) Professor X

While the X-Men haven’t officially joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) yet, a few mutant characters have shown up in the current storyline. Patrick Stewart, who played Professor X, is confirmed to return, and many believe his character will die in Avengers: Doomsday. Since Professor X comes from the X-Men movies originally made by Fox, it’s likely he’ll be written out so the MCU can create its own, new version of the X-Men team after this current story arc ends.
1) Hawkeye

The first Avengers team set the stage for all the heroes we see in the Marvel Cinematic Universe today, proving that these characters could successfully unite. While Hawkeye isn’t always the most prominent hero, many fans believe he’s at high risk of dying in the upcoming film, Doomsday. Jeremy Renner, the actor who plays Hawkeye, has said he isn’t in the movie, which has only fueled speculation that he might make a brief appearance just to be killed off.
