Amazon Prime Video has become a major player in the streaming world, offering a growing number of quality shows. While it started as a service mainly for fast shipping, Amazon began creating original series in 2013, and has since added many licensed movies and TV shows. This has allowed Prime Video to compete with Netflix for subscribers. Not all of Amazon’s original shows have been successful, and even popular series like The Boys have some weaker episodes. However, shows that consistently deliver high quality deserve recognition.
Here are seven Prime Video shows that are consistently excellent, either throughout their entire run or for all the seasons released so far.
7) Good Omens

Based on Neil Gaiman’s imaginative novel, Good Omens tells the story of an angel and a demon who reluctantly team up to prevent the end of the world. The series boasts incredible performances, largely thanks to the fantastic chemistry between Martin Sheen, who plays the angel Aziraphale, and David Tennant, who plays the demon Crowley. Their strong connection, combined with the novel’s compelling story, made the show a success.
Even though the second season moved past the original novel’s plot, it was just as enjoyable. David Tennant and Michael Sheen continued to have fantastic chemistry, and Jon Hamm delivered a standout performance as the angel Gabriel. With two full seasons and twelve episodes, the show received Emmy nominations and was consistently excellent. The final episode of Good Omens is scheduled to arrive in 2026, with the aim of providing a satisfying conclusion.
6) The Expanse

The TV series The Expanse, based on the novels by James S.A. Corey, was a hit with fans who successfully campaigned for it to continue after its initial cancellation. It began on the SyFy channel and was one of the network’s strongest shows, but surprisingly, SyFy canceled it after just three seasons, even though it was a nearly flawless science fiction program.
After being cancelled, The Expanse found a new home on Prime Video, where it continued for three more seasons and 26 episodes, bringing the total run to 62. Every episode was consistently high quality, and the show’s continuation was thanks to passionate fans – a true win for science fiction.
5) Sneaky Pete

It’s surprising how few people discuss how good Sneaky Pete was when it originally streamed on Prime Video. The show features a strong performance from Giovanni Ribisi, who plays a con artist fresh out of prison. To escape a dangerous gangster he swindled, he pretends to be his ex-cellmate and reconnects with the man’s long-lost family, who haven’t seen him in years.
The show lasted three seasons with a total of 30 episodes, charting Pete’s evolving relationship with a family who are unaware of his deception. The tension builds until a dangerous gangster finally tracks him down. Critics loved the first season, giving it a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and the show consistently improved, achieving a perfect 100% score in its third season.
4) Goliath

Billy Bob Thornton is now a major force in television, recently starring in the Paramount+ series Landman. But many consider his best TV work to be in the Prime Video series Goliath. This legal drama, created by David E. Kelley (known for Boston Legal), centers on a gifted lawyer who left his firm after a client he’d defended committed a terrible crime.
The show portrays him as a recovering alcoholic striving to rebuild his life and make amends for a past error – defending a truly reprehensible client. Over four seasons and 32 episodes, it powerfully depicts his journey of redemption, and the actress Thornton received a Golden Globe for her outstanding performance.
3) Invincible

The animated series Invincible is currently being made, and while it’s possible the quality could dip in future seasons, it’s been remarkably strong since it first aired in 2021. Based on the comic books by Robert Kirkman, who also created The Walking Dead, Invincible follows Mark Grayson, a teenage superhero who discovers his admired father is secretly a villain plotting to take over Earth.
The show has produced three seasons and 25 episodes of superhero content that subtly challenges typical genre expectations. Its animation allows for striking visuals, justifying its mature rating, and it’s proven more consistently well-made than other superhero series on Prime, like The Boys.
2) Bosch

Many people are familiar with The Lincoln Lawyer due to the movie starring Matthew McConaughey and the recent Netflix series. But what a lot of viewers may not realize is that The Lincoln Lawyer actually began as a spin-off from Michael Connelly’s Bosch novels. Prime Video adapted the Bosch series, and it was incredibly well-done throughout its entire run. It was so popular, in fact, that it led to two additional spin-off shows.
As a huge crime drama fan, I’ve been completely hooked on ‘Bosch’! Titus Welliver is fantastic as Harry Bosch, a determined LAPD detective who always seems to be battling tough cases and frustrating roadblocks, both from within the police force and from the world outside. It started strong with an 83% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but what really blew me away is how it finished – the later seasons all scored 100% with critics. That really speaks to how consistently excellent the show became, and cemented it as a real standout for me.
1) Reacher

Many people first encountered Jack Reacher through the Tom Cruise films. But the recent Prime Video series is a far more faithful adaptation of Lee Child’s novels. While Tom Cruise didn’t quite fit the character – Reacher is described as a very large man – Alan Ritchson embodies him perfectly, bringing the book’s vision of Reacher to life.
Beyond Alan Ritchson’s excellent acting, what really makes Prime Video’s Reacher stand out is its format: each season features a self-contained story in a new location with a mostly new cast. This allows the show to constantly introduce Reacher into trouble and showcase his impressive fighting skills in a really engaging way. So far, all three seasons have been consistently great, with not a single weak episode.
