7 Supervillains Who Could Beat Godzilla, Ranked by How Easy It Would Be

Godzilla is a massively powerful and iconic monster, famous for repeatedly destroying Japan since he first appeared. Originally a giant prehistoric creature awakened and mutated by nuclear testing, Godzilla serves as a stark reminder of humanity’s mistakes and the dangers of atomic weapons. As the self-proclaimed King of the Monsters, he uses incredible strength, a devastating atomic breath, and remarkable healing abilities to defeat any creature challenging his dominance. Despite his power, several supervillains from the DC and Marvel universes have the strength and skills to potentially defeat Godzilla and stop his destruction.

Most supervillains wouldn’t just let a giant, radioactive creature destroy everything, especially after working so hard to take over the world themselves. Godzilla’s changed a lot over the years, but even in his most basic form, he’s a massive, 15-story-tall monster who heals quickly and is strong enough to withstand incredible forces like black holes. However, classic Godzilla is also relatively slow, not very bright, and even his healing and strength have limits. This means there are several villains capable of defeating and permanently killing him.

7) Doomsday

Doomsday, a monster dedicated to destruction, would be Godzilla’s greatest enemy. He’s famously defeated incredibly powerful beings like Superman and Darkseid, meaning his strength far surpasses Godzilla’s, which is limited to reacting to threats at a planetary or even black hole scale. Both monsters are incredibly durable, but Doomsday has a unique ability: he evolves to become immune to whatever harms him. Even if Godzilla’s most powerful attack could destroy Doomsday, he’d simply return, completely unaffected. This ability to adapt is something Godzilla can’t counter, and ultimately, Doomsday’s immense power would lead to Godzilla’s destruction.

6) Doctor Doom

If Godzilla ever attacked Latveria, Doctor Doom would be ready. Doom’s incredible knowledge of science and magic would make him a very difficult opponent for the monster. His armor is strong enough to withstand even the most powerful attacks, like those from the Infinity Gauntlet, meaning Godzilla’s atomic breath likely wouldn’t be effective. Beyond defense, Doom is a brilliant strategist who could quickly find and exploit Godzilla’s weaknesses. However, Doom’s most dangerous weapon would be the Cosmic Power Siphon – a device he’s used before to steal power from incredibly powerful beings. This siphon could instantly drain all of Godzilla’s energy and give it to Doom.

5) Gorr the God Butcher

Okay, let’s talk power levels. If Gorr the God Butcher ever stumbled into the MonsterVerse, things would get messy, and quickly. This guy hunts gods – seriously, countless beings who shaped entire universes. Godzilla? He’d be a speed bump. Gorr’s weapon, the Necrosword, is fueled by, well, god-blood. The more he kills, the stronger he gets, and he’s taken down some incredibly powerful entities, even reality-bending Celestials. He’s even gone toe-to-toe with three different Thors at once! At his most powerful, Gorr can literally plunge the entire universe into darkness. So, while I love the King of the Monsters, he wouldn’t stand a chance against this guy. It wouldn’t even be a fair fight.

4) Galactus

A fight between Godzilla and Galactus would be an epic clash of overwhelmingly powerful beings. Both are capable of planetary destruction, but Galactus operates on a much larger scale, potentially destroying entire universes. Galactus possesses the Power Cosmic, which allows him to warp reality and has threatened countless universes simply through battles with equals. He could even absorb Godzilla’s energy without much effort. If a direct attack doesn’t finish Godzilla, Galactus has the Ultimate Nullifier – a device that could erase Godzilla from existence completely, leaving nothing behind to rebuild from.

3) Thanos

Typically, Godzilla would easily defeat Thanos. But when Thanos wears the Infinity Gauntlet, the tables turn completely. The Gauntlet gives Thanos ultimate control over time, space, reality, and all forms of energy, essentially making him all-powerful. He’s already beaten many incredibly powerful beings and wiped out half the universe with a snap of his fingers. Godzilla has never encountered this level of power and wouldn’t be able to compete. Thanos could effortlessly transform Godzilla into something tiny and harmless, control his mind, erase him from existence, steal his life force, or simply disintegrate him.

2) Darkseid

While Godzilla can be seen as a symbol of nuclear threats, Darkseid is pure, unadulterated evil. As a powerful new god from the world of Apokolips, he’s one of the most powerful beings in the DC universe. He’s easily defeated the Justice League and even killed gods with unlimited power. Darkseid’s Omega Beams would overwhelm Godzilla’s atomic breath and destroy him instantly. He could also avoid Godzilla’s attacks and teleport him away. And that’s just his avatar – the real Darkseid, existing on a higher plane, is the embodiment of evil itself, capable of destroying the entire multiverse. Godzilla has never faced anyone so overwhelmingly powerful and wouldn’t stand a chance.

1) Mr. Mxyzptlk

Mr. Mxyzptlk, a powerful being from another dimension, is so powerful that Godzilla would be like a toy to him. He has nearly unlimited power and can change reality however he wants. Even Superman can’t actually defeat Mr. Mxyzptlk – he can only trick him into saying his name backward to send him home. So, a giant lizard like Godzilla, not known for its intelligence, wouldn’t stand a chance. Mr. Mxyzptlk could simply erase Godzilla from existence with a thought.
