7 Supervillains Who Could Beat Homelander, Ranked By How Easy It Would Be

With the end of Season 5, Prime Video’s hit show The Boys has concluded. Although fans are split on how good the finale actually was, most agree it was satisfying to finally see Homelander get his comeuppance. Homelander quickly became one of television’s most frightening and memorable villains, offering a chilling take on the Superman archetype – one completely lacking in morals or compassion. However, if Homelander were to cross over into the DC or Marvel universes, he’d quickly discover he’s not the most powerful villain around. Here are some characters who would easily overpower him.

Homelander is incredibly powerful – even other superheroes fear his strength and violent tendencies. He can destroy planes, fly faster than the speed of sound, survive a nuclear blast, and use his heat vision to effortlessly cut through groups of people. In his prime, he was the biggest danger his world had ever known. Still, even Homelander’s power pales in comparison to the most powerful and evil villains in the DC and Marvel universes.

7) Juggernaut

Homelander always believed he was untouchable, but he’d be quickly overwhelmed by someone like Juggernaut. Juggernaut is powered by a magical gem that makes him an unstoppable wrecking force – practically indestructible and incredibly strong, even able to cause earthquakes and rip through reality. Homelander’s only chance would be to use his flight to try and avoid Juggernaut, but he simply doesn’t have the strength to inflict any damage. Even flying wouldn’t save him for long, though, as Juggernaut can leap massive distances. If Juggernaut ever caught Homelander, he would easily destroy him.

6) Lex Luthor

Lex Luthor wouldn’t hesitate to kill any version of Superman, including someone like Homelander. While Luthor doesn’t have powers himself, he’s incredibly intelligent and has access to powerful technology that would give him an edge. His usual Kryptonite weapons wouldn’t work as well against Homelander, since Homelander isn’t Kryptonian. However, Luthor’s Warsuit is built to fight beings even stronger than Homelander – it’s designed to withstand attacks from super-powered individuals like Superman and is durable enough to survive a planetary explosion. Beyond the suit, Luthor is a brilliant strategist who can quickly identify and exploit an opponent’s weaknesses, and he’d be able to pinpoint and use Homelander’s psychological vulnerabilities to his advantage.

5) Magneto

Considering Homelander’s history – including his relationship with a white supremacist and establishing detention camps while in power – Magneto would definitely want to eliminate him. Magneto’s force fields would protect him from Homelander’s heat vision and physical attacks. Although Homelander seems stronger initially, Magneto can amplify his punches with cosmic energy, delivering blows with incredible force. Crucially, despite being enhanced with Compound V, Homelander’s body still contains human components, including magnetically reactive materials like iron. This means Magneto could easily control Homelander’s internal systems, potentially causing a fatal heart attack or stroke.

4) Black Adam

In the fifth season of The Boys, Homelander starts believing he’s a god. However, a fight against Black Adam would be a serious challenge. Black Adam is often ranked among DC’s strongest characters, like Superman and Shazam, and is far more powerful than Homelander – he’s even capable of moving a moon, while Homelander just throws planes. Unlike Homelander, who mostly relies on brute force, Black Adam is a cunning strategist with magical abilities that let him quickly find and exploit his opponents’ weaknesses. Plus, Black Adam’s lightning attacks could easily defeat Homelander.

3) Ultraman

While Homelander is known as a cruel and powerful villain mirroring the evil Superman archetype, he doesn’t compare to Ultraman. Originating from Earth-3, Ultraman has all of Superman’s abilities but is far more ruthless. He’s consistently shown to be the strongest member of the Crime Syndicate, capable of battling powerful DC heroes like Black Adam and Superman. Ultraman has even committed widespread, multiversal murder, killing different versions of Superman across realities. He would easily overpower Homelander, who wouldn’t stand a chance against the original, truly malevolent Man of Steel – lacking the strength or speed to even escape.

2) Doctor Doom

Doctor Doom would definitely see Homelander as inferior. Doom’s technology and magical abilities are far more advanced than anything Homelander understands. His armor is incredibly durable – it can even withstand attacks from the Infinity Gauntlet – so Homelander’s heat vision wouldn’t even damage it. Doom has weapons that can turn people to metal, an anti-matter gun, and a device that can steal superpowers. Considering Homelander was defeated when he lost his powers on the show, he’d be powerless against that device. Plus, Doom’s magical skills would allow him to swap bodies with Homelander or send him to another dimension.

1) Darkseid

A fight between Homelander and Darkseid wouldn’t be a contest; it would be a complete and utter destruction of Homelander. Darkseid, who is essentially the embodiment of evil, sees all living beings as insignificant, and Homelander would be no exception. Darkseid’s power is almost unlimited – he can destroy planets with ease, defeat teams of superheroes like the Justice League, and even threaten the entire DC Multiverse. Homelander’s laser eyes, powerful as they are, would be nothing compared to Darkseid’s Omega Beams, which can instantly vaporize or endlessly torment their targets. If Homelander ever faced Darkseid, his only hope would be for a swift end.
