7 Worst Things Naruto Ever Did

Naruto Uzumaki, the main character of the Naruto series, is a hugely popular character, not only among fans of the show but throughout the anime world. He represents the spirit of perseverance, encouraging viewers to never give up on their dreams—a classic theme in action-packed anime. Despite his popularity, Naruto isn’t perfect and has made mistakes along the way.

Unlike some characters, Naruto starts out as a mischievous kid. Because he grew up without parents and was ostracized by the village, it’s not surprising he got into trouble. Here are seven of the worst things he did, which reveal a lot about his personality.

7) Vandalizing Konoha Village

The story starts by showing us that Naruto, a 12-year-old boy in Konoha, is quite the prankster. He’s always causing trouble, even going so far as to damage the statues of the Hokage – monuments that are very important to the village and symbolize the power and respect associated with the Hokage title.

Though it seemed like a prank, damaging a national monument is a serious crime with significant penalties. Looking back, though, it’s clear Naruto’s actions were a desperate plea for attention and a longing to be recognized and loved.

6) Farting on Kiba (Twice)

Naruto, always the mischievous one, is so determined to become Hokage that he’ll do anything for a prank, even something as silly as farting on people. His behavior, like when he did this to Kiba during their Chunin Exams fight, was incredibly disrespectful and raises questions about the lessons Konoha is teaching its young ninjas.

The scene of Naruto accidentally farting on Kiba is revisited in Naruto Shippuden, but this time it seems intentional. This suggests that while Naruto craves attention, he doesn’t always try to act in a way that would earn him respect, often opting for behavior that’s more likely to cause irritation.

5) Losing Temper and Almost Killing Someone

Throughout the series, a common pattern emerges: when Naruto starts to lose a fight, he accesses Kurama’s power, becomes enraged, and unintentionally attacks those around him. This has repeatedly led to him injuring his friends, and in one instance, even threatened the entire village when he lost control and nearly transformed into the Nine-Tails during his battle with Pain.

Naruto’s anger, intensified by the power of the Nine-Tailed Fox within him, has almost caused him to seriously injure his enemies. Luckily, the person he nearly defeated was just a clay duplicate created by Deidara. This incident, and others like it, show that Naruto struggles with his temper and has sometimes hurt people he cares about when he loses control.

4) Naruto Attempting to Steal a Kiss From Sakura

Naruto’s unrequited feelings for Sakura are a significant flaw in his character. This situation – loving someone who doesn’t love you back – is a common story element, and it often causes people to act in ways that are unsettling or inappropriate. Naruto does this when he tries to trick Sakura into kissing him by pretending to be Sasuke.

Naruto’s actions come off as unsettling and obsessive, and pretending to be someone else is a serious offense, like stealing their identity. Luckily, his stomach issues stopped him, but it’s still one of his most questionable moments.

3) Blaming Tsunade For Jiraya’s Death

Jiraiya’s death was a truly heartbreaking moment in the entire Naruto series, deeply affecting both the storyline and Naruto personally. It’s easy to see why he was so upset. In his grief, Naruto even blamed Tsunade, feeling she should have prevented Jiraiya from confronting Pain.

Naruto didn’t realize Tsunade was hurting just as much, possibly even more, over Jiraiya’s death – they’d been friends since they were children. She had to accept his decision, even though it was difficult knowing he was determined to follow his path. What’s truly disappointing is that Naruto never apologized to Tsunade for blaming her, not even after becoming Hokage and fully understanding the challenges and pressures of her position.

2) Naruto’s Obsession With Sasuke

Initially, Naruto and Sasuke’s connection stemmed from Naruto’s feelings for Sakura, but it grew into a real and important friendship. However, Naruto became overly focused on Sasuke, which is often seen as a major flaw in his character and led to some poor choices.

Naruto’s efforts to rescue Sasuke, though sometimes reckless and involving breaking the rules, were understandable. He was driven by a deep fear of Sasuke ending up isolated, a loneliness Naruto knew all too well from his own childhood.

1) Naruto’s Ignorance Towards His Son

Perhaps the biggest mistake Naruto has ever made is his neglect of his son, Boruto. He’s no longer a kid himself, and his difficult past doesn’t excuse it. In fact, having been neglected as a child, Naruto should be especially understanding of how isolating it felt for Boruto when he started to drift apart from his father.

Naruto unintentionally repeats a painful pattern with Boruto when he criticizes him for wanting attention. Despite understanding what it’s like to feel ignored, Naruto’s responsibilities as Hokage have led him to neglect his own family, mirroring the loneliness he experienced as a child.
