Over the past three decades, many actors have played the Green Ranger, starting with Tommy Oliver in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and continuing with Izzy Garcia in the recent Power Rangers Cosmic Fury. Seven years ago today, a new Green Ranger debuted on what was then the most surprising and unexpected Power Rangers series.
On March 27, 2018, the twenty-fifth episode of Power Rangers HyperForce introduced fans to the Green Ranger, played by Joe Shih. Titled Enter The Green Ranger, the episode showed Joe’s search for the HyperForce Rangers, all while he was supposed to be at his own wedding! His journey involved encounters with familiar faces like Jen Scotts and Sentinel Knight, and he eventually got to share a first dance with his wife, Nadira, though things didn’t quite go as planned. Power Rangers HyperForce Brought All Seasons Together In Time-Traveling Fashion

Power Rangers HyperForce premiered in 2017 and lasted for one season with 25 episodes. Unlike traditional Power Rangers seasons, HyperForce was a live show based on the Hyper RPG tabletop role-playing game, blended with the Power Rangers universe. The series is set within the main Power Rangers storyline and weaves in characters and events from both the television show and the comics.
The series starts in the year 3016 at the Time Force Academy, where the Power Rangers are students. It’s led by Jen Scotts, the well-known Time Force Pink Ranger. The story was overseen by Malika Lim, and the cast includes Peter Sudarso as the Red Ranger, Christina Vee as the Black Ranger, Paul Schrier as the Yellow Ranger, Meghan Camarena as the Pink Ranger, Andre Meadows as the Blue Ranger, and Yoshi Sudarso as the Green Ranger.
Peter and Yoshi Sudarso both previously played Blue Rangers on TV: Peter was Preston in Ninja Steel and Super Ninja Steel, while Yoshi played Koda in Dino Charge and Dino Super Charge. They weren’t the only familiar faces from past seasons, though. Throughout the season, other actors who’d played Rangers—including Jason David Frank, Karan Ashley, Cameron Jebo, Mike Ginn, and Christopher Khayman Lee—also made appearances.
The HyperForce Rangers traveled through time in their show, visiting different eras of Power Rangers, including Mighty Morphin, Dino Thunder, Mystic Force, S.P.D., RPM, and even the events of the Shattered Grid comic storyline. The team became incredibly popular, and continued to appear in comics even after the show ended, even getting their own dedicated stories. Despite never getting a second season, HyperForce remains a fan favorite to this day.
