8 Coronation Street spoilers next week: Swarla baby shock and major death ruins proposal

Next week on Coronation Street, Carla Connor (Alison King) is shocked when a baby is unexpectedly left at her front door!

The little girl is the daughter of Rob (Marc Baylis), and someone is now responsible for looking after her. Rob’s fiancée, Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers), attempts to convince them it’s the right thing to do, but it remains to be seen how they’ll react.

Steve McDonald receives the devastating news that his father, Jim, has passed away. Unbeknownst to him, just before he finds out, Cassie Plummer was about to take their relationship to the next level.

Debbie Webster is worried about what the future holds, while Lily Platt unexpectedly finds something startling at Number 8.

1. Steve McDonald receives tragic news about dad Jim

Okay, so I’m totally excited because it looks like Cassie’s finally going to propose! Tim (that’s Joe Duttine, by the way) is leading Steve – who has no idea what’s coming – towards Victoria Gardens. I can’t wait to see what happens!

Just when Steve was about to present his idea, he received the devastating news that Jim had passed away. He immediately cancelled the proposal, leaving Cassie feeling disappointed and upset.

We were all at the Rovers later, having a drink to remember Jim. I noticed Tracy (Kate Ford) was really watching Cassie – she immediately commented on how dressed up she was. Then, I saw Tracy spot Cassie secretly slipping something into Mary’s (Patti Clare) pocket, and she looked really suspicious!

Has she twigged that Cassie was gearing up to propose?

Tracy realizes Steve doesn’t understand how close he came to a serious situation, first as he becomes upset with Tim, and then while he’s making funeral arrangements with Ben and Cassie.

2. Brody Michaelis digs for information on Mal Roper’s attack

After Bernie was arrested, I’m really worried and it’s got Brody trying to figure out what happened to Mal. He’s been asking Kit and Sarah all about the attack, trying to piece things together. It’s so frustrating watching him try to get answers!

The way they kept looking at each other spoke volumes, and Brody immediately realized they were hiding something.

He told Bernie what happened, and Bernie immediately confronted Kit. Kit, feeling trapped, finally admitted the truth.

3. Debbie Webster feels betrayed by Lou Michaelis

While in prison, Debbie assists Lou in crafting bracelets as gifts for his children. When Paula attempts to steal one, Lou refuses to let her and faces the consequences.

Okay, so things get really rough for Debbie when she finds her cellmate seriously beaten up. When Sally, Brody, and the other women come to visit Lou, they’re all completely shocked and horrified by what they see – Lou is a mess.

While Debbie is visiting, Carl (Jonathan Howard) puts on a sweet act and manipulates her into giving him more money. Sally witnesses this and directly tells Debbie that Carl is using her.

Debbie rushes to defend him, sensing that something isn’t right. Later, alone in her cell, she worries about her son and her declining memory, telling Lou she can’t stand the thought of spending her last months in prison.

Lou calls Sally to share how low Debbie is feeling – and she’s furious at the betrayal.

4. Surprise baby drama for Carla Connor and Lisa Swain

Carla opens her front door to a jaw-dropping sight: a baby in a car seat, left on the doorstep!

Lisa catches up to the woman and discovers the little girl is Connie, the daughter of Rob and Mandy, a prison guard. Connie’s grandmother needs someone to look after her while she’s in the hospital, and Carla has been asked to provide that care.

Despite Lisa explaining she’s Connie’s aunt and that Connie would otherwise go into foster care, she firmly refuses. Soon after, Connie begins crying herself to sleep, and Carla, Lisa, Betsy, and Ryan must adjust to a difficult new reality.

As Carla softly bounced Connie on her lap while they watched television, Lisa hoped things were about to get better.

5. George Shuttleworth receives a tirade of abuse online

Honestly, I’m really feeling for George right now. He’s totally devastated because someone’s been leaving awful, fake one-star reviews for his family’s funeral home, and he’s absolutely convinced Annie is the one doing it. It’s a really tough spot for him!

Things are really heating up! Glenda – that’s Jodie Prenger’s character – is fighting back against all the negativity by posting amazing five-star reviews online. But Christina, played by Amy Robbins, has gone a step further and actually reported Annie to the police, claiming Annie’s been spreading false information about her. It’s getting intense!

The situation gets worse when George is brought in for questioning about Annie’s accusations of fraud. He tries to gather Christina and Glenda for an emergency meeting, but a phone call from his lawyer interrupts them.

How will George wriggle his way out of this one?

6. Harper Platt undergoes surgery to remove the mass

At the hospital, David and Shona nervously waited while doctors got baby Harper ready for surgery. Following Jodie’s idea, the rest of the Platt family came to offer their support.

Word spread that Harper had a small internal bleed, and everyone immediately became anxious. Feeling panicked himself, David angrily told everyone to leave.

Jodie gives him a warm hug before leaving. Outside, a new mother accidentally thinks Jodie is Harper’s mom and David is her husband. Will Jodie set the record straight?

Finally, David and Shona came outside to find their family nervously waiting in the car park. They were all wondering if Will would be alright.

7. Lily Platt learns of Shona Ramsey’s meddling

I was fascinated to learn that Lily found Jodie’s hidden box tucked away under the stairs. Inside, she discovered a piece of a photo – it was a cutout of Bernie and Brian’s book, the one that went missing from The Kabin! It’s such a strange and intriguing detail, and I can’t help but wonder what it all means.

Why did she target her neighbours?

Back at the hospital, the woman Jodie met earlier comes up to her and asks about her “daughter.” While Jodie is explaining Harper’s surgery, she suddenly stops, realizing Shona is standing directly behind her.

Lily confronts Jodie with the photo that proves the Alahans are involved. Will Jodie be able to explain her way out of this situation?

8. Todd Grimshaw is desperate for cash

Theo Cartwright unexpectedly came back from a trip to see his mother, leaving Todd to awkwardly ask him for money to get a birthday gift. Theo gave him £200, but specified that it also needed to pay for their dinner.

Todd’s confidence dropped when he received a message on his phone saying his account was overdue and his services would be disconnected if he didn’t pay.

With bills mounting, will Todd resort to desperate measures?
