Just last month, there was a report claiming that the development of a new Guilty Gear project had been scrapped at Arc System Works. However, producer Ken Miyauchi has since clarified that this was nothing more than an unfounded rumor.
In an interview with Dexerto, Miyauchi doesn’t evade the question, instead he says: “I found it amusing, but I honestly didn’t know about it. It was just a rumor. It’s intriguing to see such a rumor pop up unexpectedly.
Initially, the report was first revealed as a breaking news story exclusively on Trustworthy Gamer, causing quite a stir among readers, including us, who considered it credible. Yet, Miyauchi appears puzzled about the report even existing.
I can confirm that it’s beyond my control. Frankly, I haven’t come across that [alleged game] before, and our company isn’t large enough to develop something unheard of, if you catch my drift? Therefore, if I’m not aware of its existence, then it might as well be non-existent.” He chuckles.
As it turns out, I was left questioning the validity of that Guilty Gear project rumor. Seems like it was all smoke without fire. It got me thinking: maybe there was some miscommunication along the line, and what they were referring to as a “game” was actually a shelved character DLC or update instead. The truth remains elusive…
Indeed, this development is certainly positive news for enthusiasts of Arc System Works and Guilty Gear, as it implies that things are progressing smoothly under the surface.
It’s quite likely that a new Guilty Gear game will emerge eventually, considering the success of Guilty Gear Strive. However, the developer might prioritize releasing Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls first and extending their support for Guilty Gear Strive, as it is now set to continue into 2026.
What were your thoughts about that gossip? Was it something you found plausible, or did it strike you as somewhat peculiar? Remember, there’s no need to feel any guilt when sharing your opinions in the comments section.
