ITV recently revealed a sneak peek of its upcoming suspense series titled “Frauds.” This gripping tale features renowned actresses Suranne Jones and Jodie Whittaker, who reprise their roles as ex-criminal partners planning one last, daring heist.
For over ten years, Bert Jones and Sam Whittaker haven’t had any contact with each other. However, their paths unexpectedly intersect in southern Spain. Here, Bert has an opportunity to execute a plan that could either make them wealthy beyond imagination or lead to ruin.
The second series conceived by Jones and writer Anne-Marie O’Connor is the one we are discussing now. They had earlier teamed up for ITV’s family drama Maryland, which was broadcast in the year 2023.
The summary of the movie Frauds hints that Sam, who prefers a quiet life, finds her long-lost ambition rekindled when Bert gets freed from a Spanish prison on compassionate grounds. This could lead to one last major heist.

Under the guise of a last grand, multi-million dollar artwork theft, Bert aims to coax Sam out of his peaceful retirement. But at what price will this reunion come? Will Sam be able to keep pace with his old ally, who appears to be full of deceit?
Or, might the complex dynamics of their harmful friendship lead to their downfall before they can successfully complete the task?

Giulia Gandini (Barcelona production of The Split) is overseeing the directorial aspects for this on-location Spanish film project. As you can see from these behind-the-scenes photos, the main characters are portrayed in a barren location while confronting an unknown danger.

In the most recent Doctor Who finale, Whittaker briefly appeared, while her ventures beyond the TARDIS encompassed a chilling prison series titled Time and a gritty factual drama called Toxic Town.
Currently, Jones is receiving recognition for a series of successful releases, such as Maryland, along with Vigil on BBC One and Gentleman Jack on HBO. These projects were penned by Sally Wainwright, who also wrote Happy Valley.
The official release date for the fraud hasn’t been set yet, but rest assured, we’ll keep you updated with more information as it becomes available.
Frauds will air on ITV1 and ITVX later this year.
