In the story of “The Guillotine Arc” within “Aura,” Frieren encounters Aura once more following a long time apart. Aura chooses to engage her power, the Scales of Obedience, which compares their mana levels. Aura was confident in her victory, not realizing Frieren’s ancient trick of concealing her total mana strength to surprise demons. Instead, Aura’s talent worked against her, and as the defeated one, she was forced to obey whatever command. This event resulted in the well-known scene that has been imitated and reenacted frequently, where Frieren orders Aura to take her own life as she departs, leading to Aura ultimately beheading herself.
The sketches depict Frieren acting as a judge, with Aura in the defendant’s seat, which ironically echoes their switched roles from before, when it was actually Aura who found herself on the wrong end of the scales. This intriguing scene, showcasing Frieren’s sternness against demons, left fans in awe. For those eagerly anticipating more of Frieren’s exploits, season 2 will not disappoint as it delves deeper into her adventures alongside Fern and Starrk, where they venture into a realm overrun by demons causing chaos.
