Kelley Mack, 9-1-1 and The Walking Dead Actress, Dead at 33

The TV community has lost a shining star.

Kelly Mack, recognized for frequently portraying the character Addy in ‘The Walking Dead‘, as well as making appearances on shows like ‘9-1-1’ and ‘Chicago Med’, passed away on August 2nd, according to her family’s social media posts. She was just 33 years old.

In simple terms, Kathryn shared on August 5th through Instagram that our beloved Kelley has passed away. She described Kelley as a beacon of brightness and vitality, now moving on to the next realm, which is where we ultimately depart.

As a heartbroken and devoted fan, I can’t help but share my thoughts on the peaceful passing of Kelley, who was known as Kelley Lynne Klebenow. Her mother Kristen and aunt Karen were there with her in her final moments. The statement went on to mention that Kelley has already visited numerous loved ones in the guise of beautiful butterflies. The void left by her absence will be immeasurable, reaching depths that words simply cannot express.

And Kathryn closed out her statement with a special note to all of her sister’s loved ones.

She shared that she deeply cherishes each one of you, and I, as her sister, would like you to understand just how courageous she was in the face of adversity, particularly when she chose to unite with the divine. I am incredibly proud of her strength.

A memorial will be held for Kelley in her home state of Ohio on Aug. 16.

Approximately a year before she passed away, Kelley was receiving treatment for an uncommon type of cancer known as diffuse midline glioma. This cancer is caused by a highly aggressive and rapid-growing brain tumor that originates in the central structures of the brain, such as the brainstem, thalamus, or spinal cord.

In January, she posted on Instagram that her recent spine surgery had caused her to lose mobility in her right leg completely and most of her left leg. Now, she gets around using a walker and a wheelchair.

According to the process, Kelly showcased significant progress in her healing journey by exhibiting a video of herself climbing the stairs, supported by her partner Logan.

In the last couple of days, she’s climbed these stairs twice, as she shared on Instagram in March. It’s a significant achievement for her, considering that life has been a bit of a rollercoaster recently too. (Wink-wink, life has had its highs and lows, am I right?)

Despite facing a challenging health battle, Kelley was nevertheless advancing significantly in her professional life. Notably, she is set to appear in the upcoming movie “Universal” with actress Rosa Robson and actor Joe Thomas.

She had a total of 32 acting roles to her credit, such as playing Addy for five episodes during the ninth season of The Walking Dead in 2018 and sharing the screen with Harry Shum Jr. in Mr. Manhattan, which was released in 2024.

For Kelley, her deep-seated affection for the arts stemmed from a profound appreciation for storytelling. As she articulated in her 2022 Instagram post, “I am deeply passionate about acting and it brings me immense joy to realize that others are moved by the stories I’m fortunate to be a part of conveying.
