Marvel is set to continue the story of WandaVision with a second season, but not in the usual manner. WandaVision marked the beginning of the Marvel Cinematic Universe on Disney+ and followed Wanda Maximoff and Vision, even though the original Vision perished during Avengers: Infinity War. In this series, Vision was brought to life by Wanda herself, along with their sons Billy and Tommy. However, when Wanda removed her spell over Westview, Vision, Billy, and Tommy vanished. Fans have eagerly awaited more of the story from WandaVision, although Agatha All Along provided some insights, but the comics provide a particularly heart-wrenching perspective.
WARNING: Spoilers for The Vision & The Scarlet Witch #3 below.
In the third installment of “The Vision & The Scarlet Witch,” penned by Steve Orlando and featuring art from Lorenzo Tammetta, Jacopo Camagni, Ruth Redmond, and VC’s Travis Lanham, we find our characters continuing their journey after the climactic events of issue 2. They have entered the eerie realm of Grim Reaper, where Vision encountered his late son, Vin. It is important to mention that Vision has experienced a personal transformation following his near-fatal encounter with Grim Reaper. The Scarlet Witch employed chaos magic to revive him, resulting in a brand-new, white-hued form endowed with heightened feelings.
Vin informs Vision and the Scarlet Witch that the Grim Reaper has prepared some challenges specifically designed to target their emotions. The first challenge they overcome is a dance of death, but the second one is more personal as it involves family matters. You see, Vision isn’t just Vin’s son; he also has sons named Billy and Tommy from WandaVision, and they must spend an entire day with these boys as part of this test or game.
Marvel’s WandaVision Revival Leaves Us in Tears
Scarlet Witch finds it agonizing to spend a day with her sons, Billy and Tommy, as their presence brings back painful memories. Vision and Scarlet Witch never had the chance to enjoy such simple joys together before Vision perished, which makes this situation particularly cruel for them. Their sons were taken away from them by Mephisto and reappeared years later as members of the Young Avengers, Wiccan and Speed. The last episode of WandaVision showed them putting their sons to bed and saying goodnight, just before the hex whisked them away. This loss, coupled with Vision’s demise, drove Scarlet Witch to employ the Darkhold in her quest to find them across the multiverse in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
On an emotional level, the burden is heavy for Scarlet Witch. Yet she doesn’t have to shoulder it alone, as Vision stands by her side. Despite the agony, if they hope to find and halt the Grim Reaper, they need to be a family, one they never had the chance to form before. In essence, this is a continuation of their journey in WandaVision, now with Vision joining their family dynamic. Together, they get to provide their children with a day that’s as perfect as possible. Vision reminds her that dwelling on sorrow would only please the Grim Reaper. Instead, they can turn it into a brief gift for their kids.
Vin, Billy, and Tommy behave as if they’ve been siblings since birth, often found together in their home, engaging in imaginative play with action figures of Vision, Scarlet Witch, and Quicksilver. If granted only a single day, this trio plans to make it an unforgettable one, with Vision and Scarlet Witch making the most of it. Scenes from their family life unfold: children splashing in the backyard with the garden hose, shared meals at the dining table, adults assisting the boys with homework, bonding over video games, baking desserts together, and ending the day with a cozy movie night on the couch.
It’s those fantastic elements of “WandaVision” that left fans utterly captivated. When the twins, Billy and Tommy, grew up, they became vital characters within “WandaVision”, even participating in the battle against Agatha Harkness. Ever since then, fans have been eagerly waiting for their comeback, which we’ve happily witnessed with Billy reappearing as Wiccan in “Agatha All Along“.
It’s quite possible that in the future, Vision and Scarlet Witch will be reconnected within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Reports suggest that there might be a spinoff series titled “Vision Quest” on Disney+, where we could see Vision again. Contrastingly, it appears that Scarlet Witch may have met her end in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” but without a visible body, there’s always room for speculation. Eventually, when the MCU introduces the Young Avengers, it’s likely that Vision and Scarlet Witch will join them, not too long after their reunion.
