Hey, Xbox, just what in the heck is going on with Forza Motorsport? — Players deserve answers, not silence

Over a month has passed with speculations circulating about the challenging situation at Turn 10 Studios, known for creating Forza Motorsport, as well as concerns about the future prospects of the game series.

Since then? Silence. Actual silence.

From my analysis, I’ve noticed an interesting pattern regarding the brand’s social media activity. As pointed out by Klobrille and further commented on by Jez Corden, it appears that no new posts have been made on their social media platform since July 10. This prolonged silence could potentially indicate a shift in their digital strategy or perhaps an internal reorganization, but without official communication from the brand, we can only speculate.

Microsoft’s most successful original intellectual property, Forza, has a notoriously poor management history. [Tweet Link] August 6, 2025

Instead of focusing solely on the dates, let me provide a different perspective: After the latest update for Forza Motorsport on June 16th, there were two additional fixes rolled out within the same month, ending in late June.

On July 4th, rumors surfaced about the potential closure of the franchise due to layoffs. However, our own sources clarified that it wasn’t entirely “shut down,” but could reemerge in the future. Notably, Turn 10 Studios’ remaining team is now tasked with providing support for Forza Horizon instead.

While drafting the report, I contacted Microsoft for their perspective on the issue. To this point, I haven’t received any response. Not even a “no comment.” It’s been completely silent. Interestingly enough, AR12, a YouTube channel known for its coverage of Forza, also reportedly received only a “no comment.

Below, you can find the latest update from the Forza Motorsport X account, which was posted on July 10th. Additionally, there was another post on July 8th, with both posts being published following the initial report.

This version aims to maintain clarity and readability while providing an alternative way of expressing the original sentence.

According to our Executive Editor, Jez Corden, Forza stands as Microsoft’s most significant self-developed intellectual property. Notably, this spans two distinct games under the same banner, but let’s not forget that the whole journey started with Forza Motorsport.

And yes, this is mismanagement on a legendary scale.

This year in May, Forza Motorsport celebrated its 20th anniversary. Originating on the original Xbox, it’s become a mainstay ever since. Though the more arcade-style, open-world Forza Horizon series may have taken the lead as tastes and times evolved, Forza Motorsport has remained a beloved choice for twenty years now.

Myself included.

I must confess, the 2023 reboot didn’t quite live up to my expectations. It fell short of meeting its promises and wasn’t the revolutionary step forward I was anticipating. However, Turn 10 Studios, being the industry leaders they are, persisted with their efforts. As a result, it’s improved significantly, though there’s still room for further development.

But it could also be out to pasture. We assume it’s out to pasture, but nobody’s saying a word.

As a dedicated fan, it’s not just disappointing; it truly infuriates me the most. I’m confident that many others feel the same way. This iconic Xbox IP, which has been around for quite some time, deserves a grand farewell rather than a quiet end. Let’s make it memorable, let’s give it an explosive send-off instead of a fading whisper.

Instead, players find themselves uncertain about the game’s future. Will additional content be released? Will there be any bug fixes? How long will the servers remain active? Even if they continue running, what opportunities for gameplay can we expect in the future?

As an avid gaming enthusiast, I can confidently say that Forza Motorsport has been instrumental in shaping the Xbox brand into the powerhouse it is today. It’s downright disheartening that more than a month after speculations of its supposed end, there’s been no official word from Microsoft on this matter.

Is it active? Is it inactive? Or is it just on standby for now? We don’t anticipate a lot, but we should at least see some response or indication.

In light of the fact that individuals from Microsoft often visit this site, I humbly appeal to you with great respect, speaking on behalf of the vast Forza community, to kindly address our request at this time.

Dear Xbox, could you please update us about the current state of Forza Motorsport? Given its esteemed reputation, we as fans feel entitled to be informed, and if it’s necessary, a fitting goodbye would be appropriate for this iconic franchise.
