Why Kelly Ripa Is Absent From Live! With Kelly and Mark

Mark Consuelos is missing his other half. 

As an ardent admirer, I can’t help but notice that since early August, my beloved Kelly Ripa has been absent from ABC’s “Live! With Kelly and Mark.” This remarkable woman, who’s been gracing our screens as a co-host since 2001, is taking her well-deserved summer break. I can hardly wait for her return!

This week, Mark has found support from actresses Jenna Dewan and Jackie Tohn, as his spouse is enjoying a well-earned break.

Mark, having enjoyed a week’s break, promptly put the stand-in guests at ease, and in a subtle way, made Kelly fond of him indirectly. (Paraphrased)

During the August 6 episode, Mark reminisced that as he welcomed Jackie, he and Kelly had finished talking with her and strolled away, at which point they commented, “She’d make an excellent substitute.

To which the actress replied, “Really? That makes me want to cry. Thank you.”

For over 30 years, Kelly and Mark have been married and have children named Michael, Lola, and Joaquin. It’s understandable to some dedicated viewers of Live! that they’ve chosen separate holidays instead.

In truth, you’d be surprised to know that they used to acknowledge they don’t spend as many hours together as it may appear.

Kelly revealed to TopMob News recently that we don’t spend much time together in person, despite how it might appear. When you catch a glimpse of us, it’s usually on TV, but off-screen we have separate lives.

Kelly, known for co-hosting shows like Live! with Ryan Seacrest, Michael Strahan, and Regis Philbin, pointed out that their schedules and personal lives are quite distinct.

She mentioned that our interests beyond our morning talk show are actually quite distinct from one another.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I find it fascinating that while Kelly delves deeply into her latest pastime, Mahjong, during her leisure time, Mark prefers to tee off at the golf course instead. However, when these two come together, Mark assures me they each dedicate one hundred percent of their focus to the shared experience.

Mark explained to TopMob, “One of us usually jumps in first with a full dive, while the other one follows up and provides assistance.

This year marked the first September in over 20 years that Kelly didn’t send a child to school. Instead, she filled the emptiness with something from 2008 as a substitute.

It appears that Michael might be catching his younger sister off guard, as shown in the photo their father posted on Lola’s 19th birthday in 2020.

Joaquin is surrounded by love at his high school graduation.

It seems that @instasuelos learned he wouldn’t share an apartment with @joaquinconsuelos when they both start at the University of Michigan next fall, and Kelly playfully commented on this during their visit to Ann Arbor.

In March 2022, I decided to step aside for a few days to witness the thrilling competition of the Wolverines at the Division 1 Wrestling Championships held in Detroit.

As a first-year student, Joaquin did not participate in wrestling this time. However, Kelly commented during her return to the show Live, “Watching those young men made me feel like I aged several years.

In June 2021, the entire family successfully traveled to Greece and Italy, having initially faced disruptions due to the pandemic in the previous year (2020).

Kelly mentioned that due to the delay, our oldest son and niece’s graduation trip from last year ended up also being a family trip for the newly born babies.

From their delightful Mediterranean trip, they selected a beautiful family photo as their choice for the 2021 holiday greeting card, prepared by Kelly.

Kelly labeled this old picture ‘Happy Easter’ from the year 2012, since Lola gave her permission and she always enjoys poking fun at her teenage son on social media.

Mark wished the “spectacular women” in his life a happy International Women’s Day. 

“Happy Valentine’s Day to the loves of my life!” Kelly wrote from the heart on Feb. 14, 2022.

Kelly celebrated the fruits of her labor on National Sons Day, Sept. 28, 2021.

In 2021 on her 51st birthday, Kelly and Mark’s eldest child, son Michael Consuelos who was then 24 years old, shared this heartwarming flashback picture of him and his mom, with a caption saying, “Happy Birthday, Mom!! I wish you the best day possible. You’re amazing and motivational for all. By ‘T. Rex’, I mean it as a praise. I hope you realize that by now.

In August 2020, Kelly Ripa posted a remarkable reenactment of a family picture from 2003 on Instagram. Her youngest son, Joaquin, was seated on her lap, while Michael and Lola were neatly positioned beside them. Although Kelly humorously pointed out that “things might seem bigger,” they managed to perfectly recreate the original photo.

In May 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic, Kelly and Mark celebrated Michael’s graduation from New York University virtually. To commemorate this momentous occasion, Kelly posted on Instagram, “In a blink of an eye, you graduated college. MJC, the happiness and pride you have brought our family is immeasurable. I adore you deeply.

In a throwback Thursday post on Instagram, Kelly compared the years 2011 and 2019, expressing how the walls have become smaller due to her children’s growth.

“The Graduate #2019,” Kelly wrote on Instagram celebrating Lola’s final days of high school. 

Kelly receiving her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2015 was an all-hands-on-deck event.

Kelly matched her son’s gown and the flowers at Joaquin’s middle school graduation.

If your family is as lovely as you describe, it’s quite probable that you’ll capture those moments more frequently by taking selfies rather than infrequently.

Holidays always bring family together and this famous crew is no exception. 

In 2003, Kelly and her husband, Mark Consuelos, marked the grand opening of the show “A Year With Frog and Toad” at Maxine’s location in New York City.

2001 saw Mark and Kelly attending the premiere of ATLANTIS The Lost Empire at the Ziegfeld Theatre, located in New York City with their son.

No matter if they’re visiting someplace warm and tropical or cold and snowy, this family is consistently great at enjoying themselves.
