Everything Coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in August

The anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 has had two extremely successful months following its June launch with “Mario Kart World” and July’s “Donkey Kong Bananza”. Alongside these major releases, the console also welcomed several notable third-party games like “Cyberpunk 2077” and “WWE 2K25”. Now, as we move into August, things seem a bit calmer, but there are some intriguing titles in the pipeline that Switch 2 owners might want to watch out for. In summary, while there isn’t anything massive just yet for August, there are some promising contenders on the horizon.

– So far, the list for Nintendo Switch 2’s remaining releases this year is quite compact, but it’s important to mention that much about its lineup remains uncertain; there’s a good chance that we might encounter some unexpected titles within the upcoming weeks.
– It’s also worth noting that most Nintendo Switch games are compatible with the new system, meaning any games scheduled for release on that platform can also be played on the newly announced Nintendo Switch 2.
– A list of August releases can be found below for your perusal.

Drag x Drive

Release Date: August 14th

A fresh intellectual property from Nintendo, titled “Drag x Drive“, offers a futuristic twist on the sport of wheelchair basketball in real life. The game utilizes both the left and right Joy-Cons of the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 in mouse mode to mimic controlling each wheel with one hand. “Drag x Drive” stands out as one of the most distinctive games on the platform, and its launch price is surprisingly affordable at $19.99. For those still hesitant about their decision, it’s worth trying out the Global Jam demo, scheduled to be released a few days before the game hits the shelves.

Madden NFL 26

Release Date: August 14th

As a devoted gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled about the shift in approach EA seems to be embracing in the dawn of the Switch 2 era regarding Nintendo platforms. In what feels like a long-awaited move, EA Sports is set to break new ground by introducing the Madden franchise to Nintendo systems once again with Madden NFL 26.

While I can’t predict the exact outcome, it’s intriguing to imagine how this portable version will compare to its counterparts on PC, Xbox, and PS5. The prospect of enjoying an authentic NFL experience anywhere is undeniably enticing. Moreover, Madden NFL 26 promises a plethora of fresh features across all platforms.

One of the most promising advancements appears to be the introduction of quarterbacks that emulate their real-life counterparts more accurately. Additionally, there’s an improved weather system in place, which could significantly alter strategies based on precipitation conditions – adding yet another layer of realism to the gameplay.

Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar

Release Date: August 27th

For quite some time, The Story of Seasons series has been cherished by fans of the charming genre, and this August, another installment is set to debut on Nintendo systems. Not only will the game be playable on the standard Switch, but Marvelous, the developer, plans to release a Switch 2 version with several upgrades. These enhancements will feature higher resolution and frame rate, as well as mouse controls. What’s more, those who purchase the game for Switch now will have the opportunity to upgrade to the improved features on the new system for only $10 later. This isn’t a common practice among publishers, so it’s certainly a thoughtful addition.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land — Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World

Release Date: August 28th

Ever since the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, they’ve been releasing enhanced versions of games originally made for the Switch 1. Titles like Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Party Jamboree were among the first to get these updates, and now it looks like Kirby and the Forgotten Land is next in line. In my 2022 review for this game, I rated it as one of the strongest entries in the series so far. This new version claims to offer improved graphics and performance, along with exclusive content tailored specifically for the Nintendo Switch 2. It remains to be seen if the upgrade will justify the cost, but let’s hope it turns out to be a positive development overall!

There’s a strong possibility that Nintendo and its collaborators might unveil numerous Switch 2 games in the coming months. The original Switch has consistently delivered an array of games for the past eight years, and with the release of the upgraded system, fans will undoubtedly be eager to explore more titles that capitalize on its enhanced graphics and processing capabilities. Although August may not offer much excitement, the remainder of the year is expected to be packed with anticipation thanks to upcoming games like “Metroid Prime 4: Beyond”, “Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment”, and “Pokemon Legends: Z-A”.
