Camilla Luddington is opening up about her medical journey.

The main character from ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ disclosed that she received a diagnosis of Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. She went on to say that this autoimmune disorder, which leads to low levels of thyroid hormone in the body according to the Cleveland Clinic, contributes to her constant feelings of fatigue.

For quite some time now, during our conversations, you’ve been aware that I often playfully portray myself as lethargic, Camilla clarified on her iHeartRadio Call It What It Is podcast on Aug. 6. “I’m slow, weary. I prefer being in bed. I adore napping.

Even though a 41-year-old actress portrays a doctor on TV, teamed up with podcast cohost Jessica Capshaw, it never crossed her mind that her persistent fatigue might have a medical cause. As a diligent follower, I found myself with a sense of revelation about a matter I’ve long suspected. A tiny voice in the back of my mind whispered, “Could I be self-deceiving?” Given my history with health anxiety, it was natural for such doubts to surface.

For now, Camilla is taking the necessary medication and hopes to start feeling normal again soon.

“I’m on the road to recovery,” she shared. “It’s going to be a journey.”

As a devoted admirer, I playfully borrowed a phrase from “Finding Nemo,” suggesting to Camilla that she should persistently carry on, echoing the iconic line: “I’ll just keep swimming, just keep swimming, just keep swimming.
