Within a mere month of launching the wishlist-centric promotion for the game 007: First Light, IO Interactive revealed that this James Bond title has broken records by amassing over 500,000 wishlists faster than any other IO Interactive game prior to its release. In fact, 007: First Light surpassed the popularity of their Hitman games in terms of wishlist numbers. As a reward for achieving this impressive milestone, IO Interactive has unlocked the Savanna Bloom unique skin for everyone involved.
The studio revealed on their social platforms that the Savanna Bloom skin is now accessible to all, due to reaching the initial wishlist goal. At the game’s launch, you’ll have the chance to sport this chic and breezy tropical aesthetic, infusing a dash of casual sophistication into your undercover exploits.
The second achievement marks 1 million wishlists, granting a new Gadget Skin for all participants. At approximately 1.25 million wishlists, another Deluxe Skin becomes available. The fourth milestone, around 1.5 million wishlists, holds an exclusive reward that IO Interactive is yet to disclose details about. In addition to these perks, the studio will also introduce a collection of animated game-themed wallpapers upon reaching the initial milestone.
The promotional strategy for this wishlist, which is based on achieving milestones, was initially unveiled in early July. In simpler terms, the studio stated that by working together, we can achieve the Wishlist milestones for the game 007 First Light. As each milestone is reached, there will be new in-game rewards and community benefits unlocked, offering a touch of style, elegance, and a secret prize.
As a die-hard Bond fan, I was thrilled when the announcement trailer for “007: First Light” dropped back in June. This upcoming game promises to take us on an origin journey of our favorite MI6 agent, letting us step into the shoes of a younger James Bond. Unlike IO Interactive’s “Hitman” franchise, which leans more towards gameplay, “007: First Light” is shaping up to be a cinematic experience. However, the developers have hinted that some DNA from the “Hitman” series can still be found in “007: First Light”.
Instead of solely emphasizing its storyline, the game 007: First Light aims for a blend of intense action scenes and gameplay similar to what we’re accustomed to in the Hitman series. This was previously mentioned by franchise director Jonathan Lacaille a few months back.
Lacaille stated that it’s a matter of choosing between intense gameplay reminiscent of action-packed titles, and a systemic approach similar to ‘Hitman’. IOI’s background aligns perfectly with the IP, but this doesn’t fully capture the essence of Bond. So, while we are emphasizing that aspect, it’s not the entirety of what the game will represent.
We heavily rely on IOI’s strengths, but we’ve needed to innovate a lot, pushing IOI to adapt and refine in order to deliver the complete Bond experience, as Lacaille explained. For example, something new like driving, which IOI hadn’t handled before, is now part of the project.
007: First Light is currently being crafted for computers (PC), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X & S, and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, with a projected launch date sometime in 2026.
We’ve reached halfway towards achieving our second wishlist target! As a result, everyone now has access to the Savanna Bloom skin. This stylish, breezy aesthetic, reminiscent of a tropical paradise, will be ready for use at launch, infusing a touch of casual sophistication into your espionage adventures.
