Sky News has announced who will be taking over for Kay Burley on their Breakfast program after her departure earlier in the year.
The ongoing speculation comes to a close as Sophy Ridge and Wilfred Frost, both presenters from Lead Politics, are set to lead the new Sky News breakfast program, which is scheduled to premiere this fall.
Later this year, we’ll unveil the title and production setup for our upcoming morning program; specific airing particulars are still under wraps.
Previously hosting Sophy Ridge on Sunday, Ridge now serves as a prominent figure in news broadcasting, particularly recognized for her engaging interview style that often puts interviewees at ease.
In the early part of this year, Ridge received the honor of being titled RTS Presenter of the Year during the RTS Television Journalism Awards held in 2025.
Wilfred Frost, who is the son of the renowned broadcast journalist Sir David Frost, has had experience working with American television networks such as CNBC and NBC. Earlier this year, he also produced the highly praised documentary series titled “David Frost vs.”
Wilfred Frost, son of the famous broadcaster Sir David Frost, has a background in US broadcasting with stints at CNBC and NBC. This year, he was responsible for creating the well-regarded documentary series “David Frost vs.”
In both cases, I’ve aimed to maintain the original meaning while making the sentence more approachable and easier to read.

Back in February, Kay Burley, an original team member at Sky News since its debut in 1989, declared her departure from Sky News following a remarkable career spanning 36 years.
During her last broadcast on Sky News Breakfast, she shared the news and concluded by expressing, “It’s been a tremendous honor and privilege to collaborate with some of the finest and most dedicated professionals within the global news industry, as we grew from humble beginnings to a highly respected brand.
As a self-proclaimed cinephile reflecting on my journalistic journey, I can’t help but marvel at the life-altering events we’ve collectively borne witness to – from the heartbreaking demise of Princess Diana that left an indelible mark, to the gut-wrenching 9/11 terror attacks that shook the world’s core, and the catastrophic Asian Tsunami that devastated countless lives. Even the tragic Concorde air disaster, a grim reminder of our technological prowess gone awry, is etched in my memory.
Of course, there have been some delightful high points as well, haven’t there? For instance, the excitement when London was chosen to host the 2012 Olympics; multiple grand royal weddings; jubilees, and let’s not forget the suspense-filled days waiting for royal babies at the Lindo Wing.
After nearly two million minutes on live television news, making me the world’s longest-running presenter, it’s now time for me to pursue some of my other interests, such as traveling.
Following my participation in reporting on twelve distinct general elections, which included Sir Keir Starmer’s triumph last year, I have decided to retire from Sky News. Politicians across all parties can celebrate this news, as they no longer need to face my inquisitive gaze!
I truly appreciate you starting each day with me, and I want to express my gratitude for your support over the past 35 years. You are fantastic! I plan to share more content on my social media channels and look forward to crossing paths again. Stay connected!”
This version maintains the original message’s tone while sounding more natural and conversational.
