Ghost of Yōtei Showcases Flaming Kusarigama and Executions in New Gameplay

A new gameplay video for Sucker Punch Productions’ Ghost of Yōtei has been shared on Twitter by PlayStation (which can now be viewed here, although the original post has been removed). The video showcases a lot of hacking, slashing, grappling, and spear-throwing, but the standout feature is the kusarigama, one of the several weapons wielded by Atsu. You can watch it below.

This version maintains the original meaning while using simpler language to make it more accessible for a wider audience.

The kusarigama, a weapon consisting of a sickle and weighted hook connected by a chain, is perfect for dispatching enemies from afar by pulling them closer before delivering a swift neck cut. Additionally, Atsu has been known to perform a roll through a fallen enemy, slicing them cleanly in one continuous move. However, none of these techniques compare to the capability of setting the blade ablaze.

In a manner reminiscent of Ghost of Tsushima’s Flame technique, the flaming edge inflicts ongoing damage upon enemies. With the kusarigama’s extended reach, you can swiftly eliminate entire groups at once. Additionally, this technique is particularly effective against wooden shields, as it weakens their defenses by setting them ablaze.
