Initially introduced 51 years ago, Wolverine has since emerged as one of the globally renowned superheroes. Known for his brash demeanor and penchant for independence, Wolverine’s propensity for violence often put him at odds with other heroes who seemed almost peace-loving by comparison. Over time, Wolverine’s character has evolved significantly, a rarity in the world of superhero comics. Originally viewed as an unpopular and mistrusted figure, he has now become a respected leader. Despite these changes, one constant remains – Wolverine’s exceptional combat skills. His adamantium-reinforced skeleton, regenerative abilities, and retractable claws capable of slicing through almost anything continue to make him a formidable force in every fight, allowing him to consistently outperform his perceived potential.
It was Wolverine’s fame that kept Marvel Comics ahead in sales compared to DC Comics, even surpassing their most recognized characters. Now, Marvel and DC are preparing for another crossover event, potentially pitting Wolverine against DC’s top heroes. While there are certainly some DC heroes that Wolverine could defeat with ease (such as Batman – bring it on, Batman supporters!), others would quickly overpower the Canadian mutant. These seven DC characters would have no trouble defeating Wolverine, and he wouldn’t stand a chance in a fight against them.
7) Guy Gardner

Wolverine and Guy Gardner might initially clash due to their contrasting personalities, but over time they could become friends. However, a physical altercation is inevitable at first. If Wolverine manages to provoke Guy into removing his ring, he would likely win the fight, even without using his claws. Guy may be impulsive, but not reckless, so it’s unlikely he’d willingly disarm himself against a formidable opponent like Wolverine.
A scan with the ring might reveal that Wolverine has an adamantium skeleton, although the ring wouldn’t know it was adamantium specifically. This information would allow Guy to create weapons capable of causing trouble for Wolverine. It’s possible that Wolverine’s claws could penetrate a Lantern ring forcefield, given his ability to pierce certain energy fields, but remember, Guy can fly. So, he could keep out of Wolverine’s reach and use energy constructs to attack him while also launching burning energy blasts.
Their fight would be exciting, primarily due to the unique tactics Guy would employ to defeat Wolverine rather than it being a fair contest. Post-fight, I imagine they’d end up at Warrior’s bar, get drunk together, and possibly pick a fight with the entire establishment afterwards.
6) Superman

In a matchup that might surprise some fans, it’s not unheard of for Wolverine and Hulk to clash, with Wolverine even managing victories occasionally. Given his adamantium claws, which can pierce through beings with remarkable resilience, there’s a strong possibility that Superman might sustain injuries from Wolverine. However, Superman tends to hold back in fights initially, preferring to gauge his opponents before unleashing his full power. He doesn’t typically resort to using his super speed against adversaries straight away. This could potentially allow Wolverine some opportunities for attacks, but it would likely be short-lived.
A quick scan with x-ray vision would reveal Wolverine’s indestructible skeleton, prompting Superman to intervene and subdue Wolverine without causing harm. To ensure safety, he might simply encase Wolverine in a steel girder, keeping his claws at bay. If necessary, Superman could quickly end the encounter by delivering a single punch or hurling Wolverine across continents. Despite the one-sided nature of this hypothetical fight, I’d still be eager to witness how Superman handles Wolverine!
5) Wonder Woman

Although Wonder Woman may not have the most formidable villains, she’s one of the top fighters in comic books. Similar to Superman, she possesses the capabilities to defeat Wolverine. However, due to her nature, I believe Wonder Woman would find Wolverine a tougher opponent compared to Superman. If there’s anyone on par with Wonder Woman in terms of combat skill, it’s Wolverine. His claws could potentially harm Wonder Woman, and a fight between them would be thrilling. Picture this: Wolverine’s claws versus Wonder Woman’s sword, with her using her bracelets to deflect his attacks. Despite having all the advantages – speed, strength, and flight – it’s the close fights that make this match exciting. Once angered, Wonder Woman becomes virtually unstoppable, leaving Wolverine little chance. She could overpower him, tie him down with the Lasso of Truth, and beat him up just like the Hulk handling Loki’s cape in 2012’s The Avengers.
4) Blue Beetle III

In a different scenario, Wolverine might overpower Blue Beetle II, yet Blue Beetle III presents a unique challenge. Jamie Reyes forged a link with the Blue Beetle scarab, which grants him armor adaptable into any weapon and endows him with superhuman strength and flight. This fight could be more competitive than anticipated, as Wolverine’s extensive combat experience gives him an edge in keeping things close. However, Jamie would initially be startled by Wolverine’s aggression. Once he regained his composure, he’d possess the means to emerge victorious. Wolverine’s claws might pierce the scarab’s armor, but Blue Beetle III holds the upper hand in ranged combat. At the outset, Wolverine would launch a swift attack, but once the younger hero adapted, he’d opt for a standoff and pummel Wolverine with energy blasts until he surrendered.
3) The Flash

The Flash is among Earth’s strongest superheroes, a title that carries significant weight in the DC Universe. His power source, known as the Speed Force, offers an incredible advantage for those who can harness it effectively. With this ability, the Flash can run faster than light itself. Wally West, specifically, has developed various techniques using the Speed Force, including sapping speed from opponents. Despite Wolverine’s past encounters with swift foes, his battles might not fare well against the Flash due to his adamantium skeleton, which makes getting hit by the Flash equivalent to punching a steel wall for an ordinary person. However, if the Flash decides to increase his speed, the fight would be over quickly. The Flash could pick up Wolverine and whirl him around at high speeds, slamming him into objects until he’s unconscious. Alternatively, the Flash could run in circles around Wolverine, causing a vacuum that depletes the oxygen in the area and knocks out Wolverine. Essentially, the Flash holds the upper hand in this potential matchup, leaving Wolverine with limited options for retaliation.
2) Aquaman

Aquaman is a vital member of the Justice League, often ridiculed but proving his worth time and again. His unique abilities include aquatic telepathy, which lets him command marine life, and limited psychic powers against humans. However, when fighting on land, his extraordinary strength and invincibility become his primary weapons. Aquaman can endure the deepest parts of the ocean and even lift a continental plate, showcasing an immense power that puts him ahead of Wolverine in a fight.
Their battle would resemble a typical Wolverine/Hulk encounter, but Aquaman is a more skilled fighter than the Hulk. He also carries the Trident of Poseidon. The fight might get brutal, as Wolverine can wound the Hulk, and could potentially harm Aquaman too. Yet, they would clash fiercely, with Wolverine needing extraordinary luck to win. On the other hand, Aquaman only needs to fight Wolverine like he’s fighting Black Manta, making it likely that he will defeat him.
1) Martian Manhunter

In simpler terms, Martian Manhunter is often overlooked as DC’s least recognized hero, but his abilities make him quite formidable. He shares similarities with Superman, but also has the ability to transform his shape, become intangible and invisible, and possess telepathic powers. While Wolverine might be able to resist Martian Manhunter’s telepathy due to his unique mind-guarding technique taught by Charles Xavier, he doesn’t stand much of a chance otherwise. Wolverine can’t harm Martian Manhunter, and it’s easy for Martian Manhunter to retaliate. Just like with Superman, there are numerous ways Martian Manhunter could defeat Wolverine – either by physically overpowering him, lifting him high into the air and dropping him, or simply avoiding him and using his Martian vision to tire him out until he falls.
