As a die-hard fan, I’m thrilled to share that my excitement for “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle” just skyrocketed! The English dub is about to be elevated with the addition of none other than Channing Tatum from the Avengers crew. According to Variety, he’ll be lending his voice to the significant character Keizo, who shares a profound history with the movie’s antagonist, Akaza.
But that’s not all! The talented Rebecca Wang will be bringing Koyuki, Keizo’s daughter, to life in this dub. For Crunchyroll and us fans, these are truly dream-come-true castings, especially since Keizo and Koyuki may play lesser roles in the first “Infinity Castle” film, but their contributions are indispensable!
Tatum, a seasoned actor with over two decades of experience under his belt, is renowned for his standout performances in movies like “Magic Mike” and “21 Jump Street”. He also brought the beloved X-Men character Gambit to life in the 2024 film “Deadpool & Wolverine”, stealing the show. The good news is that he’ll be back as Gambit for the upcoming “Avengers: Doomsday” movie. Alongside him, Wang will also be part of the cast, joining the returning voice actors from the “Demon Slayer” series, such as Zach Aguilar, Abby Trott, Aleks Le, Bryce Papenbrook, Johnny Yong Bosch, and Erika Harlacher. The highly anticipated “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle” is set to premiere in American theaters on September 12th.
Channing Tatum Joins Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle
Mitchell Berger, Crunchyroll’s global commerce executive VP, shared with Variety that Channing Tatum joined the English dub cast because he’s an admirer of the anime series. Apparently, Tatum used to watch the anime with his daughter, a charming detail Berger mentioned. Some fans might wonder how a show like Demon Slayer could attract someone like Tatum, but it’s worth noting that Crunchyroll is part of Sony Pictures Entertainment, which has ties to numerous Hollywood agencies and studios. Moreover, Demon Slayer is one of the most popular Japanese animes currently running, with the Japanese box office for Infinity Castle already setting several records. Given Tatum’s apparent fondness for the series, it seems that negotiations between Crunchyroll and his representatives might have been straightforward.
Many prominent animation productions, particularly those from Studio Ghibli, have showcased renowned actors giving voice performances. For instance, Christian Bale, Kirsten Dunst, Dakota Fanning, Robert Pattinson, and Michael Keaton are some of the English-speaking stars who have contributed their voices to Studio Ghibli’s animated films. Additionally, Samuel L. Jackson became well-known for providing voice acting in the Afro Samurai anime series on Adult Swim.
