Previously shelved by Warner Bros in 2024, the upcoming Netflix animated film “Fixed” – a raw, unappealing canine story from Genndy Tartakovsky – was not always guaranteed to see the light of day. Fortunately, Netflix came to the rescue and saved the project that revolves around one dog’s last night before being neutered. Our team at egmr.ru recently had the opportunity to chat with stars Adam Devine, River Gallo, and Beck Bennett about their roles in the film and its initial cancellation.
I’d torch Hollywood! I would’ve retired, moved back to Omaha, Nebraska and become a real estate agent instead. That was my fallback plan, but I think I could have been an excellent real estate agent.” Joining in the jest, Beck Bennett said he would’ve quit acting and voice acting both on-camera and behind it. Lastly, River Gallo playfully mentioned they’d hit the streets for a protest. Each comment was delivered with a touch of humor.
Fixed Roles Revealed
In our interview sessions, each actor has been cast in roles for Netflix’s bawdy comedy, where they will portray ill-mannered and boorish dogs. Adam Devine is set to star as Bull, the central canine character who only has one more night before being neutered, wanting to spend his remaining time wisely. Beck Bennett assumes the role of Sterling, a pompous show dog that serves as the film’s primary adversary. Lastly, River Gallo will play Frankie, a Doberman who co-owns a canine club that Bull and his companions eventually visit.
During our conversation, we asked the group about the sources of inspiration for their characters and if they drew from their personal pets to create their roles. Gallo explained that while his pet is a small, fluffy Bichon, he’s far from resembling the Doberman madam of a dog brothel portrayed in the show. Instead, he admitted to drawing upon his own inner sensuality and darkness for the character.
Bennett mentioned that he conducted some investigation for his role as a show dog: “My dog is a terrier-shih tzu mix, weighing fifteen pounds, quite remarkable. However, my character couldn’t be more different. When I researched borzois, they have an eerie appearance. Extremely unsettling, and their long, alien-like face isn’t exactly comforting to cuddle with.
In the end, Adam Devine, the actor himself, mentioned that he adopted an unusual method for his character. He joked, “Is Bull actually a Weimaraner, Netflix? That’s what I think. I’ve never owned a Weimaraner, but my neighbor’s dog has quite large and droopy ears, so I was trying to embody that.
Fixed is available to stream exclusively on Netflix beginning on August 13th.
