Here is an overview of the game, via Clear River Games:
First introduced in 1998 for PlayStation and praised by many, the critically acclaimed shoot-’em-up is back after being polished up and enhanced. With improved high-definition graphics, a fresh opening scene, reworked music, and numerous updates to make it compatible with contemporary technology, this dark sci-fi gem shines brighter than ever.
In the year 2163, after defeating the Bydo Empire, the R9 was salvaged and held within an Earth-orbiting space station. The world heaved a collective sigh of relief, but their peace was interrupted in 2164 when mysterious objects plummeted from the sky, electronic weapons malfunctioned, and a ‘destruction unit’ hidden with the R9 unexpectedly went on a rampage, heading for Earth and initiating devastation. To quell the chaos, they deployed the experimental prototype “R9 Delta” – signaling the start of another battle against the Bydo.
In a seamless 60 frames per second performance, R-Type Delta HD Boosted offers a versatile gaming experience tailored for modern players. Each session allows you to toggle between standard and high-definition graphics at will. The iconic soundtrack has been revitalized with fresh arrangements by Masahiko Ishida (R-Type II), USP (R-Type Delta), and Chris Hulsbeck (R-Type for C64 and Amiga). Additionally, players can customize their screen size, choose from various difficulty levels, and even practice in a new training mode before taking on the Bydo Empire.
