As an ardent fan, I can’t contain my excitement for the upcoming Season 2 of “Peacemaker.” Despite the announcement that it won’t feature two of DC’s most iconic heroes, the decision seems perfectly logical. The continuation of John Cena’s lead character, Christopher Smith, and his eclectic band of comrades, will navigate the perils posed by a vindictive Rick Flag Sr., ARGUS, and a parallel world hidden within the Quantum Unfolding Chamber of Peacemaker. The anticipation is palpable!
In Peacemaker, boasting a star-studded lineup of actors hailing from James Gunn’s Superman revamp, fans can’t help but ponder over how Season 2 will tackle the most significant guest appearances that concluded in the season finale.
Following the successful thwarting of the Butterfly incursion by Peacemaker and his squad, the Justice League from the DCEU arrived somewhat belatedly to help manage the aftermath. Yet, Peacemaker chose to disregard their aid. During this segment, Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and The Flash (Ezra Miller), along with temporary stand-ins for Superman and Wonder Woman, made a noticeable yet brief appearance.
During Season 1 of “Peacemaker,” Jason Momoa (Aquaman) and Ezra Miller’s characters from SnyderVerse were significant guest appearances. However, it has been verified by the head of DC Studios and the show’s director, James Gunn, that their appearance in “Peacemaker” does not align with the continuity of the DC Universe as established in IGN.
In essence, most of what we see in Peacemaker aligns with established lore, except for the Justice League part. We’ll address that aspect in the upcoming season of Peacemaker.
In simpler terms, Gunn’s statement during the Peacemaker Season 1 finale implies that neither Jason Momoa as Aquaman nor Ezra Miller as The Flash will return for Season 2, primarily due to their characters not being established within the main DC Universe storyline.
As a die-hard cinema enthusiast, I can’t help but share my excitement about the upcoming Supergirl movie, starring Milly Alcock. However, it seems there’s an intriguing twist in the DC Universe (DCU) – James Gunn hinted that Aquaman might not be a widely recognized hero yet, amidst the superhero landscape of Superman and the second season of Peacemaker. It certainly adds a layer of anticipation to these upcoming projects!
As a movie enthusiast, it seems quite unusual that Aquaman isn’t widely recognized as a prominent hero in the DCU given that shows like ‘Superman’ and ‘Peacemaker’ are continuing their stories. If one were to create an edit focusing on the DCU, it might be best to exclude any scenes of Aquaman interacting with fish.
As a dedicated fan, I’ve often wondered about the current status of Aquaman in the DC Universe. His absence from mainstream heroics seems to indicate that he may be fully engaged in his role as ruler of Atlantis, thus perhaps not yet extending a helping hand to surface dwellers like us.
Regarding the Flash, much like Aquaman, he might find himself dealing with urban crimes rather than global catastrophes similar to those handled by Superman during Lex Luthor’s dimensional rift incident in Metropolis.
As a devoted cinephile, I can’t help but share an interesting tidbit I picked up: In a past chat, James Gunn himself hinted that we probably won’t see Aquaman and The Flash reappearing in the DC Universe for quite some time – at least not within the next two years.
Under the guidance of director James Gunn, the second season of “Peacemaker” is set to return, featuring characters from the first season including John Cena, Jennifer Holland, Freddie Stroma, Danielle Brooks, and Steve Agee in prominent roles. The new season will debut on HBO Max on August 21, 2025.
Which Other DC Heroes Could Show Up in Peacemaker Season 2?
There’s a lot of excitement building for Season 2 of “Peacemaker” as DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn hinted (through Entertainment Weekly) that there could possibly be an extremely significant guest appearance towards the conclusion of the series.
There’s a lot of talk going around regarding the identity of the mystery cameo. Some people have gone as far as suggesting that it might be Nicholas Hoult playing Lex Luthor, given that two of his henchmen, Oits and Sydney, are known to appear in Season 2.
Despite some speculation, it’s widely believed that David Corenswet’s Superman might make an appearance in the show “Peacemaker,” strengthening this theory after actress Danielle Brooks hinted at his potential role with a backstage photograph.
In simpler terms, it seems perfectly logical for Superman to make a brief appearance, given his significant role in the DC Universe’s story development and the success of his recent movie at the box office. Moreover, since characters like Green Lantern (Guy Gardner) and Hawkgirl are scheduled to feature, it would indeed be fitting to include Superman.
