The manga series Black Clover is back with three thrilling new chapters in the Summer issue of Jump GIGA, bringing us closer to the story’s end. In these chapters, the spotlight has moved from the battle against Lucius to delve into other characters as they continue their war efforts. Given that Lucius aims to conquer the world and establish his vision of paradise, it was inevitable that the danger wouldn’t just affect the Clover Kingdom. Consequently, numerous other characters have taken up arms to fight this global threat alongside our protagonists.

These recent chapters significantly contribute by reintroducing several characters into the fray, many of whom were initially enemies but have become allies due to Asta’s influence. Their loyalty stems from Asta’s past actions, which led them to pledge a day of retribution. The newest chapter introduces iconic villains sequentially, starting with Asta’s sword mentor reappearing from the Diamond Kingdom, followed by the Elf Tribe, spearheaded by Patolli, honoring his word to support humanity and reciprocate.
Black Clover Returns Its Coolest Villains With a Promise to Fulfill
In Chapter 228 of the manga, published in November 2019, the Elf Tribes were last spotted, bringing an end to the Elf Reincarnation arc and resolving a centuries-long dispute between humans and elves. They bid farewell to Patolli, vowing to Asta that they would reciprocate the aid humans had offered in defeating Zagred, the source of their oppression and instigator of conflict. The Elves resurface in Chapter 382, titled “Former Enemies,” showing up precisely when needed to confront the rapidly evolving Paladins and the angels under Lucius’ command, who were causing destruction. Upon arriving at the Diamond Kingdom, they found it under attack by these angels, exacerbating problems for Asta as he was trying to recover from his injuries.
In this chapter, I bear witness to the Elves’ long-awaited return, as Patolli and Rhya take center stage, effortlessly overpowering angels. Patolli comments that they will now safeguard humans, a promise that echoes across the ages, reminding us of the strife between Elves and humans which began with the emergence of the first Wizard King in the Clover Kingdom. The Elf Reincarnation arc reveals Patolli’s past life within William Vangeance, underscoring their significant role in the story.
Interestingly, this resembles Yuki Tabata’s later plot twist – hiding Lucius, the final antagonist, inside Julius. The Elves’ return, long-awaited by fans, not only marks a thrilling development but also highlights Asta’s impact on the world of Black Clover. It serves as a testament to his journey towards becoming the Wizard King, a dream that seems ever closer.
